Lucky for me 6 out of 7 67-72 trucks I had were the metal floor and the one wood floor was in good shape, lucky.

I have a fleet. I'm sure I used the right ones but my bed is all messed up so who knows. I put it back on yesterday and two of the holes didn't even come close to lining up even though it's straight and square on the frame. I just drilled out new holes and said to hell with it. :metal:

Was at the muffler shop when they opened this morning. Had the headers hooked up to the existing exhaust pipes and flowmasters, cut the old tailpipes off and ran new ones since they hit the axle after I did the bags and lowered it and I didn't like the outlets anyway. The boys did a pretty good job for me.

That said, I've been running this pretty stout 355 through the old manifolds and man did the headers wake it up! The old girl will break the tires loose at will pretty much any speed now and sounds awesome! It's a lot throatier and the header ring just makes her sound great!

Do you have a build thread?

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I didn't like how one of the boards looked and fit so I got another one. I got it cut and stained so far and will have it cleared in a bit. It fits alot better and I can live with it. Hopefully my son will be able to come over so I can tighten the rest of the bolts down and get it on the road.

Hey Don -

I don't have a build thread and sometimes I wonder if I should have started one - but thanks for asking.

I had to wait until he was tall enough to fully depress the clutch and still see over the windshield.

Hey, RG, I'd bet your back glass was too thick!?? I bo't one from an on-line vendor, and it was made from safety glass--that kind that busts into bigger shards when crashed, quite dangerous as they cut easily. I quickly realized it should've been made of much thinner tempered glass--the kind that breaks into tiny little chunks when crashed. These do not cut.

Hey Sam - my truck's window was shattered before I got it. The guys I got it off of gave me another window for it, but I think it was for 67-72 because the bottom corners were "square" and not rounded. I never even caught it until we went to put it in the 62.

I specialize in doing things that way... "2 forward - 3 back Truck Shop".

Spent some time hanging out on the nice, new, solid, rust-free floor.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...0/P1170545.jpg

While I was there, I cut/shaped/welded/smoothed out the fuel tank mounts. The tank won't be returning to the cab.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Cut the bottom off the driver's fender to start rust repair. Discover the last time someone "fixed" the rust they welded the bracing inside the fender to the cab. The original fender lower mount is long gone. Going to take some interesting work to fix. Then I manged to slice my palm open badly on the cut off fender and had to stop for the evening.

Finally got the bed done and bumper on. Lots of time but I saved some money and I get to say I did it. It was fun for a while having my 2 yo grand daughter hand me tools and nuts and bolts while I was under the truck. Then she got tired and the fun ended.

racecougar - I'm a fan - your work looks great!

Don - Bed turned out nice - DONE - you gotta like that / can you come up and help me figure mine out? I'll see if my grandaughter can help us too.

Yesterday I did FINALLY score a big back glass in nearby Greensburg PA. Guy has a 64-66 BBW cab setting out in his parking lot on the rockers that needs rockers and corners but no For Sale sign or anything - so I left a note asking what the story was. He called me back and it was for sale. He said he would sell me just the glass so I pick it up Saturday. You just never know till you ask.

LMC did have the BBW at a reasonable price and reasonable cost to ship so that was my next alternative - but I really wonder how you could ship a window that size and not break it.

Come on Friday -
rg

Putting together a 62 frame this week. :metal:
Pulled the torsion front end and replaced with a coil unit.
Drop springs and spindles, disk brakes etc.. etc..
The rear is a different story. ;)
Shock location and angle absolutely sucks.
Need to make a change but not exactly sure what. :uhmk:
The 60-62 chassis' are a different critter all together.

Finished installing the apitong tongue-in-groove wood on my flatbed '65. While the wood was off, replaced the fuel tank sender, now properly grounded too, in the rear fuel tank. Topped off the project with a new Autometer Prestige series fuel gauge. All is good. Drove it to the Salvation Army yesterday to donate some furniture. The guys working there went nuts checking out the rig.:mm:

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Just some maintenance today on the DD'65- had to replace a leaking rear intake gasket. While I was there, switched out to a truck TBI intake and a different distributor. Some cleaning and some rattle can rebuild as well.

Nothing too exciting, just all in a days work.

I'm tuned in to see what you come up with. If there was a bolt on aftermarket solution available, I would have replaced the stock arrangment long ago.
