Yesterday we had blocked and shot the inner fenders with black epoxy primer. Primed the grill recess in the filler panel with black too. Shot the firewall one more time while we were at it. Had to buzz a small delete plate out for the heater since mine was too big.
Bolted it all on the truck today. The Chief of Staff even helped us for a while! I didn't have any of the rubber that was stapled on the inners for the gap at the firewall so I grabbed a trunk seal off a late 90's Buick at the boneyard for $2 and cut it to length. It has the rigid channel and about the right looking shape too. Worked GREAT! Even had enough factory adhesive in the channel to help with the application to the inners. Then we combined the chrome 60 and 61 grill parts we had to make one decent chrome grill without any lettering. Replaced all the adjusters and wired it up with four good bulbs that match. Then bolted it on too. Things were going so good we had to see what the powder coated front bumper was going to look like on the truck. Hanging on two bolts for now. rg & rayray |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Took engine down to replace gaskets. Intake to exhaust gasket was gone. I took the timing cover off with the pan still on. Am I gonna be able to get it back on with a good gasket sealed surface? How far would I have to lift the engine to do the oil pan and rear main seal?

Spent the weekend redoing my Apache in Hot Rod Satin Black. This "satin" has a little more gloss than I'd like though. Still have work
to do on the tailgate but I hung it on to see what it would look like. We'll be "Cruisin the Coast" next week! |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I purchased all the necessary brackets to convert my throttle rod to throttle cable so I can hook up the kickdown cable correctly. The bracket interferes with the throttle rod but a throttle cable doesn't work with the stock pedal. It has to be attached to the firewall and bracket at the intake and carb linkage. I also purchased new return springs, brackets, wire looms, and blower motor. Im going to purchase the lokar accelerator pedal assembly and after a total of 90$ for the brackets and150$ for the pedal I will finally be able to hook up the kickdown cable! Wahoo.
I did put in the blower motor. The old, sealed, unit was leaking. The new one is not a sealed unit with fluid like the old one but it fit right in there. Still doesn't work tho so I'm thinking the... What is it? Resistor or switch... I don't know but there's another part that I've read fails often and should be the culprit. Seat belts, radiator overflow and oil catch can for pcv is next. Then I want to tint the windows and hook up some underglows that I took on trade last year. Whoop whoop. She's running good tho and ran about 250 miles today without a hiccup. Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Picked up most of the front end from a '74 3/4 ton from Jonboy over on the 73-87 side of the forum. :metal:Had everything but the lower control arms and power steering pump. Thanks Jonboy! Had a nice visit after loading it up.
Then went to the Ft Worth Goodguys show at Texas Motor Speedway, some REALLY nice stuff there. Found the brackets for the power steering pump for my SBC 350. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I decided to not sell me big beast of a truck, just spent "way" to much on it and don't think I can replace it without spending a lot more, plus some people just don't understand what a truck is worth even when you ask 1/2 of what you have into it, so keeping it and adding more cool things. Oh ya.:gmc2:

I hooked up the tail lights, bolted the seat in and the outside seat belts. I need help with the inner since my arms are not long enough. I did prime the tail gate but I really am not going to use it since it is fairly beat up.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Created a stereo system from speakers lying around my house and an iPod. Sanded, used Nitro-Stan putty, and primered the passenger's bed rail. Also somehow managed to get the horn stuck in the "on" position so it never shuts up, because I'm missing a small plastic part from the rebuild of half of the column. Succeeded on making all marker lights, brake lights, and turn signals work. Final step are the headlights, and then I can take it out on the road. Well, I can't, I still don't have a license.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Installed my donated low mileage, rebuilt, stock 350 with '98 serp system. It's so nice to have power steering and a big alternator now. When my Spal fan would kick on before the voltage would drop 2v and now it drops about 0.5v. I'm looking forward to adding AC for next summer too now that I have the compressor on the engine.
