Had the back glass installed and stuck the dome light in too.

My buddy talked me into using the front bumper guards since we had them... so I stuck them on too.

I've had some productive days lately. Today I finished up the new bed wood install. Very satisfying, because I cut it all, painted it and put in all those da** nuts, bolts and washers myself.

Also, finished up the install of the AAW wiring harness and figured out my brake light issue (simple blown fuse after chasing my tail for hours, aargh.) Still a million things to do, but now I can almost drive it.

I was gonna go for a drive today, but I need a new wiper switch so I have no wipers and it started raining. Figures. Here's some pics of the bed wood.

I added a trunk to the bed of my '63 long fleet. I found a 60" UWS aluminum tool box on eBay locally that fits quite well. I had to get a key and fix the latch but the price was right. It is attached to the bed by (6) 5/16"x2 1/2" bolts that pass through (6) hockey pucks to raise the box off the bed boards. This should make cleaning easier and allow the bed to dry underneath. The box is still below the bed rail even with the extra inch of height from the hockey pucks. It's nice to have a trunk now.

...ned.

No build thread Don but thanks for the kind words - means A LOT!

I have been keeping a journal for my Dad who lives in South Georgia and I send him regular updates with photos but that's as close to a build thread as I ever thought I'd get.

This thread keeps me motivated and focused with all the incredible work that goes on here.

Rob - your dash and gauges are exquisite!

Earl - you nailed it - perfect looking bed!

Most of all Joe - keep the faith brother - never give up & keep pecking away and YOU WILL GET IT.

Those words are why I named my truck Ruth-Ann; after a dear lady I knew from church who despite many reasons too - never did.

keep plugg'n

Well this was the first time I have seen my truck in about a month or two due to my kids having football nearly everyday. Thought I would snap a pic and show what it looks like at this moment.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Well I wish I could say I was keeping it that color. You can see my build thread to see the truck how it was when I got it.

It was a guys truck and he owned a barber shop called Mayberry. The truck had an Andy Griffith theme complete with siren and single light up top. Oh, it was also a stepside.

While def a fun truck.....we are going a different way with this truck.

Nice to have that kind of money burning a hole in your pocket, I liked the eight tubas better just for a raw look though, but either way you won't pass a gas station any time soon. Cool lookin engine:bann::bann::bann::c2:Vernski

The 421 is an 8:1 compression stroked small block with good internals and aluminum heads, the Fast EFI would probably make it better on fuel than a stock carburated 400 small block ever was....That is until you start running some boost.......LOL.....So it will pass a gas station if a guy can keep his foot out of it....Why build a hot rod if you looking for fuel economy ? I guess you could take the Prius to the A&W ?......CHEAP...FAST....OR GOOD....pick two, the one left is what it won't be....! Cheers .

Well... I spent most of the weekend color sanding and buffing. Not my favorite thing to do but it's turning out nice. Still have to finish sanding half the truck but it's getting there.

Red no dis intended on your motor or rod, would like to have it myself cause I can't get the Prius away from the old lady to go get the float, my truck has a 230 inline witch is just cheap but it gets there latter than sooner..Vernski:lol:

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Pulled the 3 speed column that I have been using on my 700R auto. I'm going use an auto column from I think a 67-68, not exactly sure what it came from. When I stand the masts side by side the auto column is about an 1 1/2 longer than the original, I'll take that out by shortening the steering shaft. It'll be nice to have 4 way flashers and a neutral safety switch.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Pushed it out the garage and then a few hours later, back in again.

Been trying to get this job done for some time.

Lights in the garage for when I start doing the body prep on the truck over winter.

Up to now I had two 4 foot strip lights, but early this year, Euan "Moosevan" sent me 10 used 6 footers from a school that he had renovated. So now I have been getting on with that.

I have added some strips of wood to widen the rafters and wired them in today, thanks as so many times to Mickey from next door for giving an extra hand and keeping me company.

Result down the one side, the two short lights will be removed and fitted elsewhere.

I am also fitting four 6 footers down the other side.

What'd I do on my truck today?
(<<<< This one.)
Drove it to the hunting grounds and an hour later threw a hundred and ten pounds of tasty venison in the back of it.

I never have been much of a fan of the 67-72 series, but your truck is beautifully spectacular. Both engines look fantastic, along with the big meats and deep wheels on the rear. I love the look of the open engine compartment and all the side trim. Definitely show winning material. Nice job!
