got entirely frustrated with it, to the point he's very close to selling PJ.

We got news in Thursday that one of our heads were cracked. We spent Friday and today looking for a replacement; to no avail, because 400sbc's are apparently a pain in the [bleep] to find.. We don't have the money to buy new ones, so.. we're kind of screwed right now, with this truck.

You can find SBC 400's in alot of vans. I believe they came it alot of later model ones also. I can't remember the cut off year but I think 79 was it.

we were at junkyards, as I said - we found 3 cars that had 400s, but they were already pulled out of the cars.. '80 was the cut off for trucks, and we seem to be finding nothing but c20s in the yards this weekend. Everything from diesel 350s to 6.7L diesels and up to 327v8's but no 400s. It's highly frustrating to come home empty-ya know?

Gave the old girl a bath today. My daughter and I are taking her to the Waterdown Car Show and Swap Meet tomorrow. She doesn't know it yet but I am going to let her drive it tomorrow too!

It looks great all spiffed up. Make sure to bring the camera along when you hand over the keys!

My son and I cleaned up the rot from the core support. I think we can save it by welding in a new bottom piece I will have a friend fab up.

The truck obviously went through a flood at some point. I sure wish I had not been so excited when I bought it and looked more carefully. Oh well, it just means more father son time fixing all the bad spots!

If this part goes well, then I have one bad spot on the driver side inner fender to patch up and we can start priming and painting the support, inner fenders and hinges. Those will get stored while we move on to more patching.

I also discovered the flood surprise after I bought the 1975 front suspension for my truck. It took several hours to get all the mud and rocks out of the crossmember, and the spindles and hubs were ruined.

Actually not today but last weekend May 18th & 19th We took our truck to the Petaluma CA. American Grafitti Tribute show & cruise. The movie American Grafitti was supposed to take place in Modesto CA where George Lucas grew up but the filming actually took place in Petaluma CA. Next year will be the 40th anniversery of American Grafitti. Do I feel old, I saw the movie when it first came out in the theaters. Also while stopped at a vintage gas station in Cotati for a photo op it looks like Yoda hopped in our truck.

I love that last photo. Great picture and a cool pose of the pooch. The thinking process going on is very expressive. And what an interesting photo location, almost like a full size model car diorama with the "shallow profile" gas pumps!

Easy fix, just grab a set of 350 heads, drill the holes for the 400 block, 6 in each head, use 400 gasket as your template, when drilling start the drill straight into the head, as the drill bit starts to bite angle the drill toward the exhaust side of the head....vacuum out holes, your done.

What 350 heads would someone use for this?
Any 350 heads, any combustion chamber size and shape or would someone need to look for something specific?
What would the compression issues be if any?

Finally was able to make the wrong size angle rings work with the air gauges I have. Put in some LED's from www.superbrightleds.com.

My daughter and I went to the Waterdown Car Show and Swap Meet this morning. Bought a rust old 60-63 dash, going to patina (think thats what you guys call it), and mount it on the wall in my pool/bar room. Should look awesome. On the way back I took her somewhere where she could drive it (she was not expecting that). Have a look see!

I say she got the hang of that pretty quick. I think a automatic would be cool though. Time for at least power brakes. :metal:

GMC hood, Chevy gauges, a 64-66 chevy grill and an ultra-cool custom bed.. ( I need to see how that is put together) so... it's a 63 GMChevydually.. ??
Very cool truck and you are right, tell the girl to watch that road..
:haha:
Can't beat those father kid moments:metal:

That is just too cool. Sure didn’t take long to get use to driving a stick! I love that classic shifter operation. I think the only solution is to install a Muncie or Super T10 4 speed!

See that I confused you a bit. Yes the dually is a bit odd, and a lot cool. That is not my truck. My daughter was driving my 66, the one in my avatar.

naa, gotta be standard shift, but definitely going to split the brake lines and add a booster.

ya, it's pretty sloppy, linkage gets jammed sometimes, only solution is to crawl under and shift into neutral by hand. Better keep that in mind when I decide how much I want to lower it:ito:

That was her first stab at it, she is still on her learners permit as well! I was having kittens:uhmk:, but it was pretty exciting!

I may teach my twins with my 71 Gm 4x4, have to be careful with the gas, it has 525hp big block, should be fun though, haha. Your girl picked it up fast.
