Thanks Mark! I spent all weekend on it and got the first cut finished but I still have 1 more step to do tonight. Here's the other side. Good god I forgot how much work this is... I'm not sure how much body shops charge for this but it can't be cheap... This sucks! Haha! But it does look nice!

Replaced the exterior pitted door handles with fresh chromed repops. Replaced the cracked front signal light lens with repops as well. It's the little things some times.

Neither was today, but both were recent work on the truck:
Went from this battered seat with a cheap cover:

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7276/7...1b6a8b2a_z.jpg

To this nice tweed & vinyl seat I bought off craigslist(from someone who hangs out here no less):

http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5522/1...cbb34234_z.jpg

I also installed this tool box in the bed. It has wingnut screws through the bottom going into nut inserts in the bed so I can remove it easily.

If the heater looks like that, it might be worthwhile to pull the cowl vent panel and the vent outlets in the cab and clear out the plenum with a weed blower. Those leaves love to hold moisture and start things rusting.

That new seat sure makes a nice improvement and looks a lot more comfortable.

With most browsers just put your mouse cursor over the image and click the right mouse button. A box will come up and one of the options will be "save image as" or something similar. Click that and you can save it wherever you want on your computer.

Here are a few more shots of the seat before I cleaned it.

No pics, but I scored a front sway bar and brackets from an '87 C10, and another voltmeter (the first one I tried replaceing my ammeter with is not working) and an entire front serpentine setup with alternator, PS pump, compressor, all brackets, and hardware for $60. Most components are probably going to need replacing, but at least I have cores, right? The serpentine setup is from a '92 5.7L. Hope it all fits.

Man, what a deal. Remember: It's easy to forget to verify that your water pump will now turn backwards; keep this in mind when installing the serp. system, as you'll need to get the reverse spinning pump. Sorry to sound as if I'm talking to a newbie, but I've seen it happen to even highly-experienced mechanics.

Again, you scored big time, and I'd bet the components will happily surprise you as well!

I just got power steering installed on my '66 with a 250 6 cylinder, but I used a used pump, so this weekend I hope to replace that pump with a new one. Hopefully, that will correct the issue of not having power steering at idle.

I am a noob, so thanks for the heads up. From what I understand, a reverse pump will have a smooth pulley. But if I am reusing pulleys, how do I know that the pump I buy will be reverse pump? I guess when I get to that point, the parts computer at the store will tell me hopefully. Months away, though.

Not so much what I did today, but over the summer. With colder weather moving in, I am pretty much done working on my truck for the year. I have managed to get quite a lot accomplished though and am pretty psyched to think that by next summer I should be driving it. I have all new brakes plumbed and added a new booster and master cylinder. I installed a new intake and carb and fired up the 350 for the first time. I was like a little kid at Christmas when I heard it come to life for the first time. (Really loud though with only the exhaust manifolds)! I have all the wiring fixed and all the lights and gauges work. I installed a new aluminum radiator, as well as new u-joints and a carrier bearing.

If I owned it, with that under-hood being such a BEAUTY and it not drivable yet, I'd get a friend to come lock down my hood and hide my keys--to keep me from being tempted to drive it ANYHOW! Nice work, rcg66.

Did the headlight relay upgrade today. Found some real nice relays along with a metal bar designed to hold up to 4 relays at Junkyard Barbie. Used threaded rivets to install a good portion of the items, pretty nice tool.

This is what I did FOR my truck today.

I scored an unbelievable deal on some old school aluminum slots. I can't wait to see them after I polish them. Here's a sample area.
