Frizzle, I like how the rear discs are coming together. I just bought my calipers and pads off eBay and I'm watching some rebuild kits. Those rotors oughta appear tiny behind those 22s!

Friz,

Who's headers are those? They look very nice. :c2:
Are you running a LS series engine?

Those Flowmaster pipe kits are nice. They will, however, leave you wanting an extra set of 45* bends since they are designed for longtubes...

All the rear brake parts are ready to go. I have have all new bearings front and rear ready to go in. Pads will be here Monday and the ebrake cables sometime this week.

But there's always some kind of set-back... One of my calipers was sent with the wrong bracket. First two show the incorrect bracket (Corvette) and the third is the Camaro bracket:

Well, since I probably won't go over the rear axle I should be ok. :o

I WAS perfectly content with my OEM drum setup. You just had to post pictures of those didn't ya.........:D. That's pretty sweet......

This board creates such a conundrum. I find one thread that helps me get stuff done faster and more efficient and then I find another that makes me want to take 3 steps backwards........

OK, I've got some more questions on your brakes.

Am I reading correctly that the rear brakes are from a camaro?
What year range and what is required to make them work - besides the brackets? Anything? Do they need to be modified to fit a truck 12bolt?

Are you running the 5x4.75 bolt pattern or are you staying with the 5x5?
I'm going to be running C4 stuff on the front of mine and am trying to figure out what to use to get the same pattern on the rear.

Where do "Glock's" brackets come from?
I'm familiar with the firearm but not brake brackets.

Sorry for all the questions but this sounds like a good way to go and I have easy access to camaro parts.

Glock is the board member that makes the brackets.

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*

I was wondering if that's who that was.

I'm guessing there is a thread on the brakes somewhere?
I'll look around for it.

Thanks

OK, I found the thread but no more brackets.....:whine:

I think he's planning to make another run of them. He also makes brackets to run caprice/impala calipers. I went with the camaro's to retain a functional e-brake.

Yeah, I definitely want the e-brake. This is gonna be my daily.
I pm'd him so I'm on the new waiting list.

Thanks

Hey Kevin I started out with a 67 Bug. Rolled it before I even had my license...

I was asked about a parts list for my rear discs. Here it is:

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*

Mocked up the rear brakes with the calipers swapped side/side and facing forward instead of toward the rear. I think I'll run them this way. Just looks better IMO and may have minuscule performance advantage over hanging them off the rear of the axle. after the pics I pulled it apart and POR-15'd the axle tubes:

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...g?t=1198042538

See, that's the way they should go. Front calipers toward rear and rear calipers toward front;):

Makes sense to me. I'll prolly do the same.

Looks good! I also agree about running the calipers towards the front.

I can't wait for my calipers to show up.

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*

FYI, some calipers are built to go a certain way to maintain proper pad wear. I know that front calipers on my 914 have the pistons notched so that the pads sit slightly angled.
