I apologized to Monroe for him having to entertain himself for the past few days. He told me not to worry about it. He spent most of his time in my man cave playing grand theft auto.. and checking out a particular picture hanging on the wall... I don't blame the little guy.

However my wife did say that he spent an awful lot of time in there with the door closed.

Anyway, I decided to play a few minutes of Grand Theft Auto with him. He kept telling me how much he liked all the cool cars on there. I apologize for the weird pics, but he insisted that I show you guys some of the cool rides he "borrowed."

Well, we sat down to play and he started squawking like mad during the opening credits, can't imagine why...

Here's the car pics he insisted I show... One looks to be a mishmash of an new Camaro/challenger, the gray car looks a lot like a 3rd gen camaro/firebird mashup. I actually had an 86 T-top Camaro in Gunmetal Gray that car reminds me a lot of. The orange car is some kind of 2nd gen firebird/grand prix mash up.

The last truck was his favorite. A great big square body burb.

He "borrowed" a bunch of them... and he wanted to show me his off roading skillz... I would say he needs a lot more practice...

Just be careful playing video games with him... he's a bit of a cheater... but I don't think he knows I know. Definitely some fowl play!

I threw on one of my black truck club shirts and hooked my headphones up to go work outside... my wife said we looked just like birds of a feather!

Before we headed to the garage, Monroe said he felt cooped up all week, and wanted to stretch his wings out on the back deck and take in the view. Cool.

When we got out there he went straight for my grilles. He has some weird obsession with BBQ grilles. He wanted his pic taken with both of them. Jena said he looked simply "delicious" standing on the Weber!

Checking out the view he noticed the big green thing... I explained to him that was the floor for my shortbed project and I was proud of the little guy, he said there was no way that was for a shortbed! He was right, I explained to him good shortbed parts are hard to find and I found a near perfect longbed floor that I will be cutting down. Some of you may recognize the floor from a meet many years ago... yeah... time flies...

...and then this happened. He beaked the truck out when he saw this! He was in LOVE with my wife's planter truck. He made me take like 30 pics. I cut it down to just a few of the good ones so it doesn't bore you guys. Seriously, this little guy LOVES the camera!

We headed out the front and Monroe met our guard dog! Not much of a guard dog, he's pretty welcoming.

It was also a pretty breezy day, and we got some great pics with the flag!

Then he hopped in the driver seat and said he'd "love to take this baby off road."

Finally, into the garage. Monroe loved the 67-72 banner I had hanging up. He offered some serious cash to buy it, but I told him it wouldn't fit in his travel crate and I liked it too much anyway...

I got a bit of a talking to on this one... he asked me how I could let my dad's 67 firebird become a storage rack... I really didn't have a good answer. Time? Money? Too many other toys to play with? Shame? Yup. It's my "someday" car. I have a shed full or rust free OEM panels, doors, and entire front clip to include an OEM 400 hood... repop floors... just need to find time. Sigh...

...and this is where some of you may want to tune out for a while...

While I was getting the supplies ready to clean up the C10 Monroe was checking out the F bomb in the garage.

He told me he's a "car guy" and loves all old cars equally. Cool. That's the kind of dude I like to hang out with.

Anyway, we started chatting about the car, he was clucking about this and that, and asked me about all the goofy looking stickers... yeah... not much of a big window sticker guy, but I told him that these were badges of honor. That very car ran 2 legs of the Hot Rod Power Tour in 2014, then in 2015 we ran the ENTIRE tour from SC to WI, to LA, and back, over 3,400 miles, then this year we ran the ENTIRE tour again from SC out to LA, through TX, up to KS, and back for almost 3,600 miles. She's been a good car. So I keep the goofy stickers as a badge of honor to show she's no garage queen.

He said for a car that's driven that much, it must have something awesome under the hood... nope... plain Jane 289 with a measly 2 barrel.

This is a testament to all you guys out there that have been hanging with Monroe! It's so important to teach the younger guys about these old cars instead of turning up our nose and laughing at the "ricers" they drive because that's all they can afford right now.

Monroe said that in all his time with all the other guys, he knew something was immediately up with my Ford... and I said, Oh, what could that be?

He HOPPED right in the engine bay and pointed out the GM HEI! I couldn't have been more proud. I then explained to him the only way to make a Ford run properly is with GM parts ;)

I think he was just trying to avoid washing the C10, but he talked me into a drive. He did make a good point. He said we had a 4 hour round trip drive in the C10 tomorrow, and he's been in a bunch of old C10's, so we jumped in the car.

He showed his inner Millennial when he asked me what the stick thingy was. I told him it was a Millennial Anti Theft Device. He thought I was pulling his leg, but I meant it, but I did take the time to explain to him how the pedals and gears all worked. He seemed very interested and asked if he could help drive when we got out on the road. Sure, why not, right? What could go wrong?

And for those with a keen eye... the shift ball on my T5 is off of a first gen square body S10. That was on purpose, I do try to piss the Ford guys off just a bit ;)

The best part was when I posted a "cheap affordable" shift knob for a T5 Hurst shift you could find at almost any junkyard in a vintage mustang forum...

I told Monroe to buckle up for safety! After he was strapped in he wanted to take a few pics... I don't think he could see out the windshield!

So, on our drive, Monroe hopped out of his seat belt. I wasn't too happy with him, but he really wanted to help steer... I mean, if he gets hurt I won't have to buy dinner, right?

He was doing pretty well, but he kept turning around to tell me how awesome it was, then I would tell him to turn around and keep his eyes on the road!!!
