great work. I just put my tailgate on a couple of days ago. Your bed is going to look awesome back on your truck.

Nice! Looks like a well used tailgate on the inside

Thanks...it is going to continue to be well used. I already have my first job picked out for the lumber yard when I get the truck finished.

Thanks! We are on similar time tables, so I have been following your thread closely...for tips!

Thanks John...any day now is right!! Every time my phone rings I think it is the shop saying it is finished. I would "assume" it will be done by Friday...if not, I am stopping by and checking on things to see where we are.

OK, so as I wait on my truck to be finished with the exhaust and repairing my dash...I had to stop by the shop today to see the truck. I was having withdrawals...

They said I will get it back next week. They got the exhaust delivered yesterday and the patch panel for the radio has been welded in along with the cutout for the center a/c vent. They are going to repaint my dash and clear coat it also.

The vent in the pictures are just sitting in the holes, not 100% flush, but I tested them and they do once fully installed.

Also welded in a new panel for the controls on the left...so it isn't removable anymore and looks great...matches the dead panel to the right of the vent.

I took a few pictures and can't wait to get it back.

That radio hole patch looks great! I get to do the same thing to Frankentruck eventually

I like it...I really like the AC vent...that is so cool looking. At least you have a shop that cares about your truck and is doing a great job!!!!

Thanks! That is one of the things that always bothered me about my truck...the gaping hole for the modern stereo that was in it....it wasn't even cut out nicely...very jagged. You will love it when you do it.

Thanks John...I love the vent ...I had the original looking vent from Jim, but decided to sell it and go this route. It is the most modern looking thing on my truck, but it makes it unique to me.

I am really excited about the guy that is actually doing the work on my truck...his name is Mike and he has been doing this for over 30 years and has built cars and sold them on Mecum.

i don't have a ton left to do before I get the truck back...so I was inspired to paint and clear coat my radio delete panel....every little piece is finally coming together.

I would have run a radio delete plate as well, but unfortunately, the previous owner enlarged the radio hole enough to where the plate wouldn't cover it. I trimmed it out farther for a modern radio to get me by until I can get an original radio rebuilt with modern internals. I love the stock look but also love listening to some great tunes

It wouldn't cover mine either before...I had a modern radio in it before I started redoing the truck. I just had to get this done though...it bothered me with a gaping hole and no radio in it.

Going to be so much better than this before picture...

Got my floor mat this morning. I opened it up and have it sitting outside to warm up to get wrinkles out and get any smell off...but it really doesn't smell as some reported. It is a thicker rubber than I really thought it would be...I like it!

Now I just need the truck back so I can put it in.

What vendor did you purchase the mat from? I'm interested to see how it fits.

You still running the Fi-Tech? I have the blow through 900hp version and have run it for only a few min. before i decided to go LS on my 69 C10, but on my 66 i am building now, it has a 383 stroker that i built and i want to use the Fi-TEch on it. Just curious how it is going with that.

I still have it, but haven't really run it yet. My truck is at the shop getting exhaust put on. As part of a few things they are doing, they are a FiTech authorized dealer, so after they put the exhaust on they are going to tune the FiTech for me. I just left the shop and I "should" get the truck back either Friday or early next week...then I will have a better feel for how I like it. I will report back after I get a few hundred miles on the truck...which shouldn't take long!

Just got back from the shop...took them my glove box parts. Took some pictures of the dash and new vent. Everything is painted...still need to wetsand/polish the dash, but this is what it will look like. I love how it turned out.

I received a package today...and in it was a gift from a great friend of mine...John! I loved what was in the package...an OEM dash clock. I mentioned that I was looking for one and next thing I know one is at my door! You can't buy friends like that and if I could, I couldn't afford it! :-) Thank you so much John, it is the piece I will love the most on my build. Can't wait to install it.

Im so glad you like it. Thanks to (60-66) Jon Krogh for letting it go. When you mentioned the clock I knew I had to find one. Maybe when we get old and senile we can look at the clock and remember the time....the time we talked about our builds till our eard hurt, think about the time we have been friends!!!

OK, so I have been bored lately...without my truck back yet! UGH! I haven't had a whole lot to do on the truck side. I was in my shop today and I saw this bow tie I made years ago out of carbon fiber...so I thought I would take a picture as a nod to Chevy for making awesome old trucks, but I guess when they made them, they were new! LOL
