Afternoon started with cutting a clothes rail in half.
Nice profile. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8040.HEIC Empty gas bottle, steel rod, profile. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8022.HEIC Should work. Looks OK from here. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...SizeRender.jpg https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...SizeRender.jpg Then transfer the sides to sheet metal. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...SizeRender.jpg https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...3_IMG_8030.JPG And the result. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8037.HEIC Pretty happy, having prepped both sides. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
I popped over to one of my neighbours who is building a retirement car.
His little shed.... https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8057.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8077.HEIC Edge drawn onto the plates. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...SizeRender.jpg Tested on a bit of previously rolled scrap, the inverted J or walking stick was my first attempt. In order to get the feeling as I have never touched or used a bead roller. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...41f1b7d5b9.jpg Starting out with the roller. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8078.HEIC First one done. Happy with that. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8079.HEIC Back home, just laid out. Bit of fine tuning before welding together. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...SizeRender.jpg Next up, paint part of the rods with Hammerite, try leave it alone before threading the nets on, and then weld frame and plates together. And then paint the lot with Hammerite. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
A few little things done today.
One of them was just relaxing and wasting time. Also painted the metal bits from yesterday’s prep in black Hammerite Decided on black as it’s easier to patch up once I do the welding to get the bits together. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8116.HEIC @joem83 posted these wheels up. £180.00 for a set of 4 in Bristol...... Not at all the right fit, unfortunately, as I do like the style again. And they are 15” afaik https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...3_IMG_8134.PNG . |

10 plus years parked outside in all weathers next to a shop in Scotland has to have its toll. Sadly, a 90’s built, U.K. Kitcar with 70’s and 80’s Ford parts and bits of wiring of suspect origin is bound to break your heart at some point. No matter how optimistic you may be feeling. Today I wanted to get started with removing the front screen in order to start creating the support for the fold down Land Rover screen. Sallys Uncle Bob the hoarder popped in for a couple of hours to check up on my progress and to see if I had space for one of his stationary engines or an Austin A35 he has been trying to get me to take, so my plans were a bit scuppered. But we rolled it down to the garage. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8121.HEIC Originally the car had a frame from the roll bar to the screen..... Radio-tape fitted. That thankfully fell off along the way from Scotland while Fil was recovering it But there is a mess of wires, including some bits I do not recognise, left over..... They need to be removed, but are fibreglassed into the frame. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...D391C0B046.jpg When I tried to remove the Land Rover mirrors though, they were not attached in an obvious way, so I found there was a channel up the side of the body with small rusty nuts, but not at all accessible...... So a bit of digging, pulling, pushing.... Wet plywood, rusty screws that would not screw out, but a couple of long screwdrivers later.... More rust down the bottom. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8124.HEIC Result. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8125.HEIC Still no progress on the frame or the mirrors. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8127.HEIC Either side. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...EADACB8C4B.jpg At least they are open. Next job will be to hire a 12 year old contortionist mechanic to reach up there under the dash, up he A-Pillar to undo those nuts. Then the wires to be unthreaded, maybe. Weekend over. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
Little bit every day
Painted the outsides of the panels. Happy with the brush results. When I tack them to the frame it will be on a wet cloth to minimise heat distribution and damage. Should work. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8179.HEIC That should do. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8206.HEIC Bead roller certainly made a difference. I like that. |

Now we have a Title !! Funny how the little things make a difference DVLA has been hit by Covid as much as any other government body. And because the seller had lost his V5c document inba house move it cost me £25.00 by cheque and a paper written application to get it te-issued to me. This process takes even longer. I did not want to spend too much on the Rezin Rockit befire paoerwork was also in order. Well............ https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8354.HEIC Interesting to note it is down as a 4x4 and also it’s gross mass. If only the carport guy (whom I texted this morning again) would come and get the steel structure up so I can get the roof done. Onwards. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
Not sure if this should be on here, or in the Galaxy thread. As it kinda fits both.
But as the Rezin Rockit will be under the roof once it is up, I guess here is fine. Steel guy said he will be here up to about 8.30 lets see when he gets here. He is coming with a Sprinter pickup, so needs to reverse down the drive and get the steels down to site. I needed to remove the caravans, trailer, scooter, mixer and other bits, up to the lawn, which is very wet and soggy. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8523.HEIC Once cleared, I decided to make a “Selfie stick” and at 5 meters long, it got the job kinda done, but of course a drone would be better equipped to do the job. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...1_IMG_8385.JPG Looking toward Mickeys place. Guys at my house by 7.45 and on site from 7.50
Been a long time coming. So the truck was a bit wider than he thought..... poop. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8547.HEIC So carrying all the shorter beams down, followed by using the cart Fil “Sparkplug” brought over to run one down, but it was almost the same width as the concrete strips, followed by using a narrower one to run the longer 6.5meter main front beam down. It all got down there. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8549.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8552.HEIC Followed by fetching the smaller van from over the street and getting it down to the bottom and unloading https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8553.HEIC Most awesome tool unloaded. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8555.HEIC Primed https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8556.HEIC Lifting https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8559.HEIC Up there. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8562.HEIC I needed to get indoors to speak to some people. Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
So the steel guys were gone by 13.45 which men’s they spent a total of 5 hrs on site.
What was amazing, and experienced by me too, was how the whole thing just bolted together so easily. Keep in mind, I had done the foundations and upright posts, and between me and the lodgers, we had cut and welded the top plates twice and still delivered a base that was squared up on four corners, despite the posts not being equidistant from each other. Pretty impressed, even if I say so that it came out that well for a start. Followed by Wayne getting all his structures to just fit together without a drill. So last night, after they had gone and my day finished at 5.00pm this was the view. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8599.HEIC High enough from the front to get a tall thing in, and then some. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8601.HEIC From Mickeys side. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8611.HEIC Roofing next. |

Good to see you here. Thank you. It’s a 10 year dream, almost to the day. So typical of weekends, @CraigRK and I were chatting by 06.00 on WhatsApp about our weeks and then progressed to more important stuff. Like the roof and what materials were needed. It did not take long before we were in video more and getting sizes down. So steel structure depth At 4950 plus a 50mm overhang at the rear and a 500mm stabilised, but unsupported overhang to the front, it gives me a 5.5 meter deep carport. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8607.HEIC Rear width on Mickeys boundary, overhanging the woodwork shed by 200mm is 5500mm including a 100mm unsupported overhang to the side. On the front I offset the one post in order to maximise front access and that is 6500mm or 6.5 meter wide For those who need to know, the shed overhang and front roof will be getting a small gutter and down pipe to catch whatever run off there is. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8608.HEIC Front beam height is 8’1” or 2450mm on the garage side and about 2x or 40mm shorter on the shed side, as the roof is horizontal but the paving drains away gently toward the garage. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8716.HEIC Rear beam is 7’5” or 2250mm high on the underside of the beam. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8714.HEIC The plan we ended up with to do the quantity calculations. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...a43da81b0b.jpg So black is steel frame. Red and Green are timbers, all 47x200mm high end C24 carcassing Orange noggins were planned to be screwed into front timber and then also to blue 50x50 aluminium box section to stabilise unsupported front over reach roofing sheets. Roofing unfortunately shows a 4-6 week lead time online, so I will call the supplier in the morning to see if there is any way of expediting my small order. Roofing sheets will be Box Profile Sheets 32/1000 Rib - 0.7mm , PVC Plastisol coated and in Juniper Green. Basket Box Profile Sheet - 32/1000 Rib - 0.7mm - 5500mm x 1000mm - PVC Plastisol Juniper Green Delivery 4-6 Weeks Sku: BP32-947 £377.40 Foam profile fillers £28.08 Barge boards £65.48 Wood purlin screws £34.84 Metal sheet stitching screws £18.76 Screw colour caps £10.62 Box Profile Sheet - 32/1000 Rib - 0.7mm - 2700mm x 1000mm - PVC Plastisol Juniper Green Delivery 4-6 Weeks £30.87 Summary Subtotal £566.06 Shipping £78.00 Today's Discount £113.19 Order Total Incl. Tax £644.06 Apply Discount Code The timbers need to be ordered locally. Timber should be around £250.00 delivered. Now headed out to try get the screen off the Rezin Rockit without destroying it. Kinda failed, but still had a good weekend. Been a busy weekend. Out for dinner, loads done with Sally, and also on the carport frame. This afternoon I made some chilli oil, using 8 scotch bonnet chillis finely sliced and added to a litre of oil This will get to steep for a while and get better with time. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8727.HEIC Then down to the garage for a bit at 2.30-ish. The Cortina dash lip fell off in my hand when I tested it. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8732.HEIC Pretty rotten, and not looking great. HOWEVER....... I really like it and will be reinstating it once I figure out the best way to do it. All of the mounting bolts, which were moulded into the rear, were rusted away significantly https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...AE8A51494B.jpg https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8737.HEIC Next up I tried to undo the passenger side mirror, reaching up inside the A-pillar Had to escalate the process and remove some stainless tabs used to hold the kick panels in place. Ultimately I broke out the grinder to clean up the rusted studs broken off on the dash, and to remove the ones keeping the stainless tabs that were in the way for trying to get to the mirrors. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8739.HEIC Result. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8740.HEIC Ultimately I did not get the mirrors off] They are fixed up the A pillar, And I had a walking date with Sally, so packed up tools by 4.00pm Next time the mirrors will hopefully come off. Looking up the A-pillar, circled where the mirror bolts are. The angle iron is part of the window frame support. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...eRender(1).jpg Weekend over, again. |

As in carport, dry work space, and as @PaulY observed today, its almost winter. Ordered the timber by 11.45 yesterday and delivery was by 08.45 this morning. Here is a lesson...... the big companies, big websites etc, do not always give the best service. I managed to save £66.00 just by looking around a bit, using my phone. Ordered C24 grade timber. Amazing service In pouring rain https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8870.HEIC Next up, dry the timbers and then paint them all, grey. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_8884.HEIC Also ordered my roof sheeting and fixings. Today progress.
Thanks to @CraigRK and Mickey for advice, help, encouragement Really interesting getting into it. The I-beams are not the same On top and bottom. The C-beam against the wall, though a 200mm beam, again has different dimensions. So cardboard templates were made up, cut out and then copied onto the beams, all were different. Starting on the rear, followed by the front ones. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9076.HEIC With fine tuning needed to hammer the beams into the steel with a lump hammer. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9082.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9081.HEIC Cutting and measuring and using Craig’s grinder with very rough steel grinding flap disc to fine tune the fit..... https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...1_IMG_9108.JPG https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9123.HEIC Almost there. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9134.HEIC And then done. Caravans swapped around. Welding caravan parked under the beams and storage van parked on the drive. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9140.HEIC A few more jobs to do, including two 1.1 meter steels to manufacture and bolt on to the right side of the frame...... https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9136.HEIC So, very happy with today’s progress, and also good to see mate Craig again, as we did not get to do a USA road trip. Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
That carport is sure coming together nicely. Do you live in a pretty temperate area? If it's like here, it's the rain that keeps you indoors during the winter, more than the temperature. Having a covered place to work, exercise, play would be a perfect solution. It's going to look good. You are well into the details on the RR and have gotten a lot of options. I'm not clear as to the theme. I was thinking little racer, like the Filipino rides, but the WW2 trenching tool has me confused. I'm not sure you appreciate my cautionary input, haha, but some things are important. You'll want to draw a line from the top of your planned rollbar to the front of the bonnet/hood and make sure your melon fits within that triangle when you're belted in. The windscreen is not going to help hold you up if upside-down happens. I always enjoy hearing about the help that you get from your far-flung contacts and how you propagate the spirit with how you treat the new ones. The guy who could laugh about the shipping on the hinges impressed me.

Though I would add this bit of a side report.
Some of you know I love a good knife, and buy them when I travel, trade some, find some etc. A friend, Jonathan in North Carolina whom I have known for years runs Jon Hall Custom Knives for his hand made and hand forged knives and bladed tools. He has wanted to make me a knife for a couple of years, in a style that I could use. So this weekend he sent me some photos of what he had started on. A full size Chef’s Knife, using Damascus steel and Buckeye Burl, stabilised with blue Resin scales https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...1_IMG_1767.JPG https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...1_IMG_1765.JPG I absolutely love the detail one can get into Damascus steel. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...1_IMG_1766.JPG Scales worked back. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...1_IMG_1770.JPG By this morning, only final polish and finish was left to do. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...1_IMG_1769.JPG Once again, feeling blessed and privileged and chuffed as hell. I like this knife. |

A quote from Mate Fil, who had gone up to Scotland to fetch the Rezin Rockit for me, about this knife.

Not a great pic. But I took a day vacation yesterday and was running around town buying guttering, collecting building materials etc, and visiting a couple of friends. Helpful staff and good prices. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9212.HEIC Amongst the stops was one at mate Martin with whom I travelled America 5 years ago. Amazingly, it is exactly 5 years since we stoped at and spent 3 hours in Gas Monkey garage in Texas. He is selling his house, to move away and to a place with more space and garages for him and his lady. Some may remember a few years ago, I modified a paralysed fireman’s furniture for him so that he could use the couches directly from his wheelchair etc. He does track days in a somewhat modified Nissan Skyline GTR and from one of them, this seatbelt support with rose jointed supports were removed. It ended p on Martins scrap pile, I laid claim to it when he mentioned it, so I collected it. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9221.HEIC Plan is to add it to the new roll bar of the Rezin Rockit in order to have a decent mounting point for harnesses. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9225.HEIC I quite like the skinny rearward supports too. |

Chilly too. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9323.HEIC Video: https://youtu.be/rV1z1U__nNM Kevin has been assembling the interior https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9325.HEIC We were talking about all the holes to fill on the Rezin Rockit when he pulled this stuff out. Told me to try it on all the holes that need filling. Anyone use it before? https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9326.HEIC Seems good on his build. |

Good to see your reply mate. Thank you very much. Temperate if below 6’C or 40’F in winter, often just bloody cold, but wet at times. Covered space is both protective and weather proof-ish. Filipino style antisocial tool. The trenching tool if it is added, will just be a bit of fun, a nod to its origins. Roll bar geometry makes a lot of sense. I do want a low profile and more importantly a backward slant visually. I think the hinge guy was pleasantly surprised by my offer to share postage cost. I always like to keep my karma books balanced too. |

*****ing, moaning, griping about a fail won’t fix it.
So today I took a day off work, I did need to burn off leave or lose it. Slow start, and certainly some thinking to be done. I had not actually seen the reason the car had failed before today. So I lifted it up and crawled under it to see if I could find why it had failed. And suddenly realised I owed the grumpy tester an apology https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...3E040A3895.jpg https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...3B7BD4C7F8.jpg https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...59DF59A9AE.jpg At this point I was chatting with mate @glenanderson who responded thus. 😕 Decision time then. 1) Patch it up quick and dirty to get another year’s ticket and spend the last couple of months of next summer looking for a replacement. 2) Do a proper job now, to keep it going indefinitely. 3) Walk away now before you put anything more into it. I’d be doing 1) or 3). So after the chat, I decided on a combination of primarily no 2.) and some of no 1.) I never cease to be amazed at people who take all the time to bodge a job, when it takes just as long to do it right. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...DE1EF6D538.jpg And started to clean up........ Loads of mastic welding under the skin. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9403.HEIC Yellow chalk of doom evident. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...A2BE54F1EA.jpg https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9402.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9404.HEIC Then cutting disc. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9414.HEIC And fetched out my die grinder and it’s quick release discs. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9409.HEIC Cleaned up. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9411.HEIC Then used my CAD design and cut some plate, folded, prepped and fitted it. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9413.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9416.HEIC Fine tuned. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9417.HEIC Welded in https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9420.HEIC Other side https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9421.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9426.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9418.HEIC Looking at the amount of crud this side produced, I am amazed. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9437.HEIC At this point I then added a bit of seam sealer, went to the house for a coffee and to check work emails, because I cannot step away. Helped a colleague and waited the 20 minutes for he seam sealer to go off. More in a bit. |

So after coffee, I grabbed the Wurth underseal
Sprayed it and tried to blend it with the underside. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9433.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9434.HEIC So I was happy with the final result and needed to get the other side up https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9441.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9444.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9458.HEIC And ground back. Hopefully the weather will be good tomorrow, so I can do the rest. Did an initial grind back, more in the morning, and also cit out the rot, followed by making up patch panels. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9453.HEIC Hope to get this done before the weather turns nasty in the morning. After that........ Disassemble the front end in order to fit a side light one side and indicator lamp on the other side. |

Found a set of 15” steel wheels with tyres, in a look that I like, two tone, 8.5J wide and 60 miles from here.
Collecting at 5.30 tonight. Makes it part of the adventure. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...x/IMG_1826.JPG Decided to get some adapters. 4x108 to 4x100 which means other wheels are possibly closer to use. Need two more cheap adapters to make my piggy bank happy. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...1_IMG_1821.PNG Came off this. Like the shopping list on the door. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...x/IMG_1827.JPG https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...1_IMG_1822.PNG https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...x/IMG_1829.JPG Happy, yes. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
So part two today.
Unfortunately the weather did screw it up a bit. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9485.HEIC Cutting out the rust, one of the things I have learned since a long time ago, is like with cancer surgery, you need to cut deep. So cutting into good steel is part of the deal. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9486.HEIC Cardboard Associated. Design..... Translated into metal. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9490.HEIC Tucked in https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9492.HEIC Tacked and. Then welded. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9493.HEIC Once all the seams are welded in, use the persuader to tuck the fold in closer before welding that in as well. Small spots at a time. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9495.HEIC Weld https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9515.HEIC Grind, finish. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9516.HEIC Then on to preparing the next two pieces. Rot cut out. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9519.HEIC Next plate cut, folded, ready. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9521.HEIC And this one. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...E9A84F18A7.jpg And then came the rain....... A fairly serious amount. Enough to decide for me. Pack up, two plates to weld in. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9536.HEIC Found out one more thing from UKGSER Quote:
So that was it. More tomorrow, weather permitting. |

Dennis in St Louis sent a pic of his NASCAR themed C10 trucks dash.
Wired up and ready to Rock n Roll. This is the look I would love to replicate in the Rockit. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...1_IMG_9544.JPG . |

Part two today, racing against the weather, forecast as windy with a bit of rain today.
Magic stuff this Vactan, used it before. Getting it into spaces, may help long term to slow things down. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9620.HEIC Plates welded in, but scruffy, and ground back. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9581.HEIC Würth stone chip stuff added. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9587.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9592.HEIC Tried to get my hands into the back of the lights...... via the wheel arches, failed. Called it a day on the Galaxy, but happy so far. Other than the poxy lockdown.. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
Got these home last night.
https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9553.HEIC Seller has a wing on the car he is breaking..... loved it. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9550.HEIC So it was wheels, spacers, and a set of wheel arch brows or whatever you want to call them. Saving them for another day. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9603.HEIC He had 175/55 15’s stretched on these 15” 8J wheels, looked fine on the Kia, but hope to make them work on the Rezin Rockit Cleaned them up a bit. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9609.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9608.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9611.HEIC So now the trick will be to make them fit the car. Adapters next. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
Thanks to Ben, it was fidly but actually straight forward after retrieving my Torx bit with some BluTac on a stick. I broke the magnet version years ago.
Four Torx bolts. One 180mm deep in the dark undone. Remove top two but only loosen bottom two that hold slide in tabs. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9675.HEIC I undid top gour screws on grille and spaced it away with screwdriver handle. Move light out like this to get to modified bayonet type fixings. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9676.HEIC I bought a replacement bulb, except the pins are offset but it needs directly opposed pins. Thankfully I had some in my toolbox I made in 1981 for my first car. When pliers and two screwdrivers plus a plug spanner fixed everything at the roadside. Good old days. Bulb fits in stalk. Stalk is bayonet fitting too, only one way to fit it. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9678.HEIC Of course Galaxy failed on a sidelight as well I got a replacement. Regular type. BUT it had LED types fitted. So same process to remove headlight. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9679.HEIC This was removed. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9680.HEIC So now I have two different looking but working lights. Could this be a fail again? I dont care at this point. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9681.HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_9682.HEIC Only a rusty brake line left to be fixed or replaced by a real mechanic. Then retest. |
