Re: post your 67-72 4x4
You guys make my Suburban look tiny lol
Anyways, it's got Detroit Lockers, NP205, 350/350, with the regular engine mods (Edelbrock, etc, etc), and some Doug Thorley long tubes. Soon to get some 3/4 ton leaf springs up front and some blocks in the back to even it out, and hopefully some new tires. https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...31902273_o.jpg https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...89482281_o.jpg https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...95468698_o.jpg |
finally a paint job! 1967 K-20 CST
after a few years of trying to get it together I finally painted my truck...I settled on a single stage urethane w/ hardener...original color...nice paint...Nason by DuPont ...
used my 30 gallon compressor and a water filter...45 pounds pressure...solid two coats with thgree on the hood, roof and doors...hit the inside bed too a little...still have a 1/4 gallon left over...I painted the roof green...( it was white and the body green) if I dont like it I will re spray it white??? this morning I did the jambs, hood sides and hit a spot or two I missed under one quarter...all with a small foam roller...worked like a charm...minimal tape necessary... May is good weather...no bugs(well a few) nice temps and no humidity yet...this is something I did 40 years ago ...and decided to do it again for oldd time sake...also saved a bundle...275 dollars in paint, hardner and some reducer and tape... it was fun...started at 8 in themorning after wet sanding w/ 400 the night before...only a few runs, nothing a little 600 and some wax wont fix...I do need to get the letter decals for the tailgate...also I lost one of the cab light bezels on the first test ride...I must have un hooked it when I pulled the tape of...that will probbably be harder to fix than anything else... ...and I think its running a bit better too...LOL... 1967 K-20 CST 4 wd 327 ci 4 speed... all the best...ted http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps75cf0ab8.jpg three rools of tape later...boy is tape $$ now... http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...psd699c921.jpg the letters cleaned up nice... http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...psfe9aaee2.jpg almost ready... http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps5dd4adfe.jpg |

WOW! Can you come on down to Florida and paint mine? JK. That is real nice. And that color is growing on me more every time I see it. Kinda wish my truck were older now. Congrats sir. So many never make it to paint...

Re: post your 67-72 4x4
Silvertip67, looks great. I finally dropped mine at the painter. I don't have the shop, tools or skill. I did strip her done to bare metal. She is going back to the 504 and 502 two tone (Lt Olive green and white). Trim is done. I have to finish the tail gate trim and repaint the front grill. It was silver and the PO bainted it black. I found one decent 69 door and a marginal 71 door (passenger side). Mine were dead. I think I will run out of $$$ and I will do the bed liner myself.
71 veronica, looking good send pics when done! I'll do the same |

Re: post your 67-72 4x4
Finally SOME progress? Looks like a ton of progress! Good job! Oh and a side question... Do you really own all those trucks in your sig? DANG! PM me some pics of that 57. Those are like truck porn to me.
|
Re: post your 67-72 4x4
If he does own that many trucks it is no wonder he has no time to work on all of them, man one is hard enough.

Theres actually a few more Im hiding as well, my sig would be too long with them all in there. The 57 is in the same state the 70 was for the last 4 years but longer. Its my next project i think, looking for a 454 locally then find a nv4500 and np205 to stuff in it. I have like three tri fives trucks and one 58 apache as well as what I think is a two ton 55-57 GMC, you cant see the frame or rear end but they are massive. And right after I took this pic I grabbed the weed eater and cleaned around the truck so the grass doesnt grow into it. Yes I feel bad for it being outside but Im building a lean too this summer for most of my vehicles.

Re: post your 67-72 4x4
So freakin jealous! Maybe you should send me the 57 postage paid so I could finish that which has been started...

Re: post your 67-72 4x4
Looks like you will need an extra large lean too for all your projects, hope your fairly young.
|
Re: post your 67-72 4x4
30 so young enough to collect more and finish the rest lol, If I can start finishing them once a year Ill be done by 40 lol. I live in a small town where most spend their time drinking beer and doing nothing, while I dont mind beer, Id rather spend my hard earned cash on my truck/cars/toys. Once a few are restored I can sell one or two to fund others. I hope to build two lean too`s, one will be a 4 car the other maybe 6. But thats all hopes right now lol.
|
Re: post your 67-72 4x4
Well young enough and with a good plan too, some cool stuff for builds. I only do one at a time, your probably thinking of a few at a time and collecting parts for most, kind of an advantage for you.

Here is one that I've had since 1987. The first pic was taken in 1996, the second pic was taken last summer.

Truck looks so much clean without the Duke's of Hazzard turbines, the factory Ralleys look much better.

Re: post your 67-72 4x4
Just got this little gem, build thread to come at some point
67 4x4 SWB (yeah I know she's got a step side on her now, but i kinda like it that way) It was originally a park service truck with a six cylinder, speed warning and radio delete. But once taken out of service she sat for quite some time. Will be a mild build, driver.. Plan is to have her up and running before the weather really changes.. Some stuff already done, but lots to do. I will turn her back into a proper 67 with parts I already have including a set of 67 step side fenders. Since I already have a 2wd 68 SWB in the making, she will most likely remain a stepper. Will start with a mild 350 and use the current SM 420/T221 and closed knuckle Dana 44 to get things going. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2882/9...4edc767e_z.jpg http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2850/9...2b0f0120_z.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7348/9...9e725b28_z.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3763/9...8705e21f_z.jpg What do you all think? |
Re: post your 67-72 4x4
That 67 K10 stepper is a nice project, kind of like it a stepper and 4x4, of course the standard trans makes it a bit better yet.
