Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Looking good. I almost can't handle this piece by piece. I wanna see it done so bad. You definitely have a very unique truck.

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
WOW!!! What a build!:chevy:
|
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Darn, I have to subscribe to another build.
Awsome work Frizzle, I can't wait to get my new shop this fall/winter so that I can start on ONE of my projects. |
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Hey Frizzle... I saw your build-up while i was at Winco....SWEEEET!
|
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Thanks man! It's unreal to get mag coverage on a project that really started as a spur-of-the-moment whim. Josh did a good job of consolidating 30+ pages down into a magazine sized article. In fact, I just noticed that it is now online:
Here's the link to their main page. And the article. |
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
That's awesome!!!
Did you get enough $$$ for at least paint? :sexy: We need more updates! :metal: |
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
holy cow man. that's really cool. always neat to see someone from the forums make it to a mag, but then to have it be a project build, even better.
with this kind of coverage, I bet you'll get a good number of calls from guys looking for you to "tahoe-itize" their subs. :) |
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Thats awesome you got published, good job
|
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Friz, thanks for the kind words, your burb is awesome and I am just glad I could help out a fellow member. Your hard work deserves to be seen.
Anyone who wants a physical copy can call Sonja at 866/515-5770 Sorry for the shameless plug, we have like 300 of them. |
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
That exhausts is terrific, man, all I can say is that you pretty much won't be able to fit anything else under there, starting to look pretty tight.
|
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Congrats on the article Frizzle! You deserve to get your work seen by others (besides your fan base on here) for all the awesome work you have done. Thats one bad a$$ tahoe!!!!

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Thanks to everyone for the congrats.
Number98, It's made it to the big time; a magazine article. What else do you want? Actually I had a busy month or three, but I'm back at it. I've finished all the final welding on the exhaust and ground all the butt-joints smooth. From the mufflers back has been painted with high-temp ceramic embedded paint. I also made some new brackets for the rear upper shock mounts (couldn't find exactly what I needed in the catalogs). I'm relocating the rear shocks to accommodate the full length exhaust. Last thing to do on the exhaust is the cross-over pipe in front of the AT xmember, then I'll paint the intermediate pipes and do the final install. Here are the pics. The last pic is something else that's been taking up some of my time as well (just lowered the front and started painting the tires/wheels. yes painting the tires... we'll see how it works and go from there...). The rear will be lowered next weekend. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...g?t=1220775869 http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...g?t=1220775869 http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...g?t=1220775869 http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...g?t=1220775869 http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...g?t=1220775869 http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...g?t=1220775869 |
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Cool!
excuse my ignorance, but what kind of car is that? |

I've never seen tires "painted" without them being smoothed first. How did you do that with all the letters intact? Very cool btw! :metal: |

http://www.vwparts.net/VW-70.html They're available from other sources and in different widths but they work well. I've had blue ones on my bug with Michelins for years. |

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
come on Friz, how many do ya need?
Yeah, turns out getting your truck in a mag is easy when the photographer posts here! if we only knew him. |
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
i wouldn't call building a custom Tahoe "easy" ;)

I don't know what brand they are. If I had to guess I would say they're Atlas. Those are the ones typically seen in the VW crowd. I've got a set of Color Gards from the 50's on my bug. They were made in Cleveland. Of course they're light blue and I think they were only made in colors but they're extremely nice. :) As far as quality, they all work pretty well as long as you mount them correctly and the tire is tall enough. Low profile tires are kinda hard on 'em. One of my front ones is starting to show wear on the outside edge because the tires are kinda short. |

And if it breaks down, you can just stick it in the back of the tahoe:D |
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Congrats on the mag article man.....much deserved !!!
:metal: |
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Wow, that was awesome to read. I've seen those HUGE suburbans and thought man it would be nice if they weren't so large. Now that I look at my 65 PU and having limited fabrication skills I have a renewed sense of anything is possible with planning and effort.
Congrats thanks for sharing. |
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
You do know that you can buy wide whitewalls, right?
|
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*

Porta-walls are nice because if you get tired of 'em you can take 'em off and you can use virtually any size and brand of tire you want. |
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
^^^What he said. Plus the current wheels are 13's and I plan to get some 15's or 16's of the same style. Then I'll step up to real WWW's :)
|
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*

|
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*

Just be sure to use the car as a DD so the tahoe can be the project. Witch should mean we will get progress updates now, right? |
