I have a commercial restaurant grade dipper tester that I use (do not use your wifes candy thermometer).

My dad had the same problem with the peterbilt He replaced 3 radators in 2 years one cost over $1000 Then this spring the guage started reading all over the map. He replaced the guage and ....Problem solved!!!

Re: Daverods 52

yeah lots of factors here. thermostat, fan, rad, pump, the mix (Oh don't forget to just leave the rad cap off while it heats up so you can purge the system of air, you might be gettin an air pocket) again though, I'd check timing and make sure your not running too advanced. Also get her to idle and see what she is doing. the thermo in head could def be giving you a different reading. However, I run my efan temp sensor in the head and actual temp gauge from the intake, its about 185 on a cool day, hotter day about 190. I have a 185 stat and fan kicks on at 185.

Re: Daverods 52

My timing was messed up. I did'nt plug the disy whern I set it at first. Pluged it set it at 4 bdc. Mounted my fan right next to the rad. Also drilled some holes in the front of the rad. mount/hood latch area. Moved my temp sender to the heater plug right next to the thermo. All problems solved. Runs and sounds sweet. I should get my lens for my cam this week so I'll post so pics.:smoke::mm:Stilll working on brake lines/trans lines.

How did you have the trans lines wrong???? I didn't think it would matter.

Re: Daverods 52

I guess you want the coolest fluid going into your trans. Coolest is on the bottom. The other thing is the pump drains every time if is hooked up wrong. Not sure about that last part but thats what it sounded like.:smoke:

I miss hunting, was in the same place in Central ID for 20+ years, very successful. Last two years we hunted there, the wolves had pushed the elk out. The last year we saw the wolves way up above us moving down to flank us and we moved out. 4 years ago I blew out my knee and can't do the hills anymore and my buddies have all moved on to other things too. Still have the memories of many good hunts. Elk are incredible when you get to see and hear them in their habitat.

Ya know Dave, if you could concentrate on one project you might get one kinda finished...
I had to check in just to see how you are coming along.

I do like the Christmas lights hanging in the garage, I may have to borrow that idea

Well I was going to use the same type of lettering and shape of the logo just different words. But I wonder if Lokar would fund part of my build if I did?:smoke::mm::lol:

The drive went great. Now I really want to drive it. Steering pump and some brake juice and I should be ready about spring.haha Took the wife and dog for a fake ride. 2700 rpm must have been going 65. Nice and smooth.haha The thought of it falling off the stands and flying though the garage door went thought my mind a couple times.:smoke:

Re: Daverods 52

So do I need them? I hooked everything up I didnt see anywhere to put them?

99 to Life 01-02-2013 05:13 PM

Re: Daverods 52

you sure those are for your brakes? Looks like the needles for a carb.

99 to Life 01-02-2013 05:18 PM

Re: Daverods 52

oh and what brake set up you have? You gotta bench bleed the MC before you hook the lines up. Then bleed brakes from Rear to front and cylinder farthest away from MC. I had a problem getting fluid to my cylinders and it was killing me, rebled the MC and that stuff came gushing out. Once you bench bleed they say hook it up and bleed system asap I waited months and that was probably my problem.

daverod 01-02-2013 07:19 PM

Re: Daverods 52

bench bleed? Its in so should I just disconnect the lines then bledd it and hook the lines up again? The parts came with the MC just no instructions. maybe just left over parts?
