Talk about a rare one, ey? It got my vote for people's choice, the only award given. There's no judging at these shows. Just bring them out for folks to see. My choice till I saw this one was a '41 Plymouth pickup. It won, which means it goes on the dash plaque next year.

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
Bet it's quite the unit to drive, also noticed the low profile side walls, modern by todays standards, ahead of it's time.
What engine does it have. Mudman. |
Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
I think it's a 4-banger Buda or Continental, like about 300 cu in. They made the first 4wd and it was a car, in '08 or '09. They went to trucks, supplied armed forces with over 10,000 in WWI.

Here you go. Save this one. A picture of some of the first 4wd drive enthusiasts ever. They look like they're just as happy as you or me after having the same kind of fun we like to have... 100 years ago!

Neat, check out the chains on the tires, love the good old make it work ingenuity. Probably the beginning of chains as well as 4x4 fun. Oh, and nice link... good reading! Thanks!

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
Man, that is such a cool machine. Those axles and transfer case are pretty beefy too. I dig it!
|
Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
They used real cast metal back then, now aluminum and next plastic.

That '42 Oshkosh I could own (or the command car). 1942...wow! Look at those round fenders and stainless trim. We have a fabrication shop (been wanting to stop in) in the next town that has a few sitting with plows. Newer, but they are all cool, right?
|
Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
I never heard of the Osh Kosh. They are cool.
|
Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
I have never seen an Osh Kosh in person but the pics I have seen the trucks always seemed to be very heavy made ,like concrete trucks and the likes .I used to have a model of one many years ago .Great looking trucks to me anyway.
