Same color blue......can't wait to get the truck sprayed this year. My fiancée wants pics with us and the truck for our Nov wedding, so I want it sprayed by then.

This weekend was the 1st out of the house do to illness and the weather, but I got my door mounted and caulked. Still have a couple coats of paint to go, but I finally have a tool shed. Will start on the big barn next. Nice thing is the small shed only has the engine and cherry picker in it now, so I can finish mocking exhaust and clutch/trans in there.

Put a small bench and shelves in. Will put more shelves in this week and paint after our rain is gone (another 3 days).

Recycled an old ax handle for the door pull. Milled 2" x 16" planks out of yellow pine for the door. And it is heavy.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Its getting there. I need somewhere to put my tools and stuff until the big barn is built. Its hard to work on projects when everything is all over or in boxes, so hoping the tool shed will help on that end.

Nice job on the custom sliding door, I like it better then a swinging door and it gives the shed a heavy duty macho look. Good idea:metal:

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Thanks. I like the fact that they don't swing out, especially with the grade of where its built. I got off later than expected so I didn't make it by the shop to check on the seat. Ive been about two weeks behind, but would like to get the cover back to you. Hopefully its about ready or ready to go. He was working on a late 30's mercedes when i dropped it off.

Also looks like I bought a 63 bbw short bed fleet today thanks to a lead from lugnutz65. Has no engine or trans which is no big issue since I have those bases covered. He disassembled the front end, took off the cab (complete and unassembled) and removed the bed and let it sit for a year. will go down the 1st week in march to pick it up 2 hrs away. Will have to put the bed and cab on the frame and either bolt or strap them down. The other parts will fit in the back of the truck and I'll trailer it home with a clean title for $500. I'll get some pics up later. Bluebomber will come down from Cary and help out and anybody in SC in that neck of the woods is welcome to come help load if they want to. Looking forward to this build after i finish the stepside and then trailor project, but of coarse i'll probably multi-task and put it back together for now with some new parts. More to follow...............

Heres a few pictures. Was a standard cab truck ordered with the big back window. I don't know much more than that at this point, doesn't appear to be a custom cab. Standard cluster and heater, no other options I see.

Few more. Sheet metal all looks pretty straight and fairly cancer free minus the surface rust. Obviously has the wrong seats and steering wheel, which will be removed as will the carpet. Immediate goal will be to reassemble the front end, cab back on the frame and bed back on. Would like to get what parts are missing to make the truck complete and then it'll get tarped in the barn until the stepside is done. More pics in a few weeks.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

If it had been a longbed, I probably would have passed. But I couldn't pass up a short bed and a bbw fleetside. He said it was headed to the local steel mill, so I feel good that even if I don't build it, someone will and its been saved.

Now I just need a 63 burb to finish off the herd.

found a 61 still behind the shop that I'd already talked to the owner about. Looks like he may be trying to get rid of it. 61 long bed step side, unmolested w/original drivetrain.

Your gonna have to build a bigger barn.

It's already planned for 3 stalls.....I knew I would eventually add to the collection. I have the 2 car carport also.

Will do Don. I'll give you 1st dibs if I decide to go a different route and not build it. But at least it'll be saved and not crushed.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

OK, so finally caught the upholstery shop open. We had 8" of snow last week, so he was closed up. We haven't had that kind of snow in these parts in near 10 years.

Good news is my seat will be ready to pick up next Monday. So stay tuned for pics.

Glad to hear the seat will be home soon...:metal:
Warmed up here this weekend, and made a bit of progress...

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

My progress has been slow. Although my new out buildings held up just fine w/8" snow weight. Ive been working on the pass side seat rail. Almost done polishing those. Broke off 2 bolts in the floorboard removing the seat tracks from my 63, so I'll need to drill those out to remount the bench in.

If I can get the time to complete the last valve cover I'd be pretty caught up. Fixing to put the stepside down for a few weeks. Almost ready for the engine /trans swap. I'd like to have the posi installed and the rear end rebuilt 1st, so hopefully it won't be long if the weather holds. 8" snow last week and 70* on Thursday....go figure.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Yeah I saw that on the news Austin. My buddy lives in Raleigh and works for Time Warner Cable....said it took him 4 hours to get home. Most of those people shouldn't have been on the road anyways. Theres no way that many people had to be out.....most of them were probably just rubber-necking at the snow at got caught up in it.
Everything is lined up for Mar 1 pick up of the newest 63 to join the herd.

We've been getting our share or rain too T.J.

And 6 days until seat pick up....longest wait ever!!

Thanks Don, me too. Its been a long time in the makings and scrounging up money and parts. Looks like we'll be in the 30's here in the morning and 70's in the afternoon for at least a week, so may get a little truck work done this weekend.
