I got them from this guy for $190/pr via best offer (he wouldn't come down much). The quality is good though not perfect show quality; mine's a driver. He did send the wrong bracket on one of the calipers but he says he has the right one on it's way. Doesn't look like he has listed another pair of the 93-97's yet but it wouldn't hurt to send him an inquiry.

I got my camaro calipers and brackets from the salvage yards. I'll rebuild them sometime.

I always have thought the positioning of the brake caliper really doesn't matter, except for weight distribution, and on our trucks it would be best to have them on the back. That's where I put mine.

I could see where an argument could be made to put them in the rear for traction. I'm thinking along the lines of unsprung weight. Moving the weight toward the trailing arm pivots would be an improvement in that regard.

It's the same weight, different moment. :) In all reality though, it's so little weight compared to other things, it really doesn't matter.

Yep, that's why I put them where they look better ;)

Either way, they look purdy!

More progress on the brakes. The hubs have about a 1/16" ridge that prevents the rotors from seating all the way down on the flange. I was able to remove it with careful and even application of a die grinder:

On the fronts the outer corners of the hubs have to be knocked down in order to run the Coys C5 center caps. Here's a before and after plus a little bonus video of my low-tech method

Then the fronts got a few coats of the high temp silver, and the axles got some black:

Looks great! You're making me jealous! I'm interested in seeing what it takes to hook up the emergency brake cables. My calipers just showed up yesterday complete from pads to cables, but it's all pretty ugly used stuff.

I did the same thing, just spun them on the spindle. Lookin' good!

I wonder is that same modification is needed on the C4 spindle?

I guess I'll know soon enough. :)

It was only required because of the center caps I'm running.

Well, I ran into a minor snag on the rear brake conversion: I got the new bearings in and went to put the seals on... wrong size  Since this is my driver I have to wait for my GF to get home so a can make a NAPA run...

But I roll with the punches; Got one of the front rotors installed with all new bearings and fresh red stuff. Now back out to do the other side!

Truck is coming together very nicely I am addicted to this thread. That seems to be the norm on the rotors for wheels that have caps I had to do the same.

Geez, man. New hub caps are like $2 a pair at NAPA... :) jk- lookin' good. Just ordered my rotors today. You should make a commission off of all the sales this thread has led to. Hell, my purchases alone could fund your next mod:lol:

Frizzle,

Sorry, I should have stated that I'm running the same wheels but since it's a defferent spindle I may not have the same problem.
I'll know soon enough. I'm gonna try to actually start something on my truck tomorrow. :o:
I have to check my kid's schedules and make sure there aren't any basketball games or birthday parties or .................. you get the picture. :waah:

You know I thought about replacing them and then I thought it was probably one of those parts the wasn't commonly stocked by the parts stores... Didn't even think to ask. Now I'm gonna have too... That's $2 in sales for you ;) oh wait, plus the Coys :metal:

Hey man, I've got three of my own! So I hear ya. I can tell you this: I had to take the corner down on my stock 71-72 rotors too.

Got the other side done. Also figured out the rear end outer seals after two more trips to NAPA... Not sure why the part numbers weren't correlating. Here's the passenger side. Rear brakes will go together tomorrow:metal:

Well, the kids don't have anything on the schedule for tomorrow so if it doesn't come a turd floater, I'm gonna be "working" on my truck. I'll be checking the C4 spindles in the wheels with the center caps on for sure.
Thanks for showing what you did.

Ahhh, I just put it together  C4 stuff... gotcha. Might get lucky, but if not, it's an easy fix.

OK, just in case anyone is interested, I checked and there's no prob with the C4 stuff and fitting the center caps. There's plenty of clearance.
