I never started a build thread because I knew I wouldn't be consistent enough or have the time to keep up on it. I've taken pictures here and there throughout the deal but just never made a thread. I have a thread that has a few updates, nothin spectacular though. Doing this 2wd with and Auto is proving to be a good challenge though! I don't have all the clearance like you 4wd guys! |

I'll start a build thread if you set me up with a big turbo so I can do compounds with my sissy little Aurora 2000! ;):hm: |

I wanted to keep the truck as original appearing as possible since my grandma was the original owner from 68-96 when she passed away! The Aurora I bought with a set of DDP "Stage 3" injectors and a fuel plate for $380, I couldn't pass that up! Aren't those injectors like 5x.013, right? |

I wouldn't recommend anything bigger than a 145* 5*0.012" SAC injector for your A2000, if I was the one selling you Ryan's injectors. |
Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Fuel plate is a 6 profile I believe.
This turbo is pretty much just a non gated S300 though, right? |
Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Nope, if memory serves me correct, I got hung up on for asking if the the A2000 was similar to the S300G, and if the A3000 was similar to the S300. S300G is a smaller cartridge than the S300. They don't seem to like that people know they don't produce their own turbos.
|
Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
I'm going to take a stab here, but I think A2000's are S200 series and the A3000's are S300's. 200's do look very similar to 300's though.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Well ride on, thanks for the help/input guys!
Appreciate it all from the both of ya! Anyway you might know of a exhaust manifold like the 24v ones that put the turbo to the front of the motor that has the right ports or am I gonna have to build one? |

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
No big progress this weekend. Between working on a semi and sluffing off with the owner, and Mother's Day, I didn't get much done on this thing. But I did manage to get the hydra boost on. It isn't done as I have to build a linkage to connect the brake pedal too, and drill 2 holes in the mounting plate to finish bolting it to the fire wall. I did find my clutch pedals and get them in finally. I also removed the large spring from the clutch pedal because I won't be using it. By the way, I had to go hydraboost because now that I raised the engine up and brought it back more, a vacuum type set up will not fit.

I'm going to have to modify my engine mounting bracket to clear the PS line. Yeehaw! http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...n/IMG_0464.jpg |
Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Ryan, I think you'll like the hydroboost. I have it on my 01 hd and its hard to tell if the trailer brakes are working :)
Keep up the good work, Jud |

Motor mounts are a blast to build that clear everything on these trucks, huh?! Don't ya think you might be able to get a custom hardline built to get around it all? |

Custom power steering hoses are ridiculously expensive, tried that on the Corvette.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
i cant tell for sure in your pic, but there may be room for a metric 0-ring to JIC #6 (AN6) adapter and a block 90* i did that on my jeep. then you can use standard hydralic pressure hose and fittings. you need two 16m and one 14m to convert the hydraboost and the steering pump. then another 16m for the box if it isnt a std. flare type. if i remember correctly. in doing the jeep including the hose and fittings for the Howe assist ram and box i think i may have spent 90$ on hydraulic hose and another 20-30$ on fittings. the adapters are 10ish bones apeice. pretty cheap for super stout and easy to make hoses.

12v manifold http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...r/IMG_0468.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...r/IMG_0467.jpg 24v manifold http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...r/IMG_0466.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...r/IMG_0465.jpg You can either run the turbo down low and the manifold dumps at 4 and 5 or flip it over and the turbo will be up top. You will have to source or build a spacer to get the turbo off the valve covers. Let me know if you need one, I have 2 of each. |
Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Thanks again man, I'll be sure to let ya know!
Keep up the work! I'm goin back to mine now, I'm gettin jealous! |
Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
No more progress. I did get some fittings and wouldn't you know it, I can't get one in there either. I have a steel line I'm going to try to fit in there with some mods to the engine mount bracket. It's always got to be some thing!

Thanks for that link Tim! I doubt I'll do it to this truck though.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
I've never cared much for the forward tilting hood. Seems like it would just get in the way. I would love to have the whole nose tilt forward. Now that would be handy.
