Half-tracks were my favorite war vehicle when I was a kid. They are so cool it's stupid. And stupid means really good these days
Are these big enough for you? |

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
I worked on one of those small Oshkosh trucks one time. Funny thing is they actually wanted me to bring it back after the test drive? I thought they didn't want it anymore since they were crying how old and beat up it was.

We have a welding & fabrication shop near here and the owner has a thing for the Oshkosh trucks. I'd have stopped in to shoot the bull by now but he has so many packed on the property there's no where to put my truck it seems.
At our ATHS show in September we have a guy who brings 40 or more trucks. The first 3 are 4wds of his and the last two belong to others |
Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
Some very cool trucks. I like them all..

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
I really like that international!

That International has been at that show every year for over 10. I also see it at Macungie, PA (ATHS National Show) Fathers Day weekend. I've never talked to the guy but I think it is treated special yet still worked a bit.
I confess my love for the IH 4wds from the same era GM Trucks I've been into. Going GM was a practical decision out of need. Now that they are old trucks to preserve I wouldn't mind owning one... or two three five  |
Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
It’s funny Tim, when I lived in your neck of the woods, I almost never saw internationals, I see them somewhat frequently (5-10 times a month or so) here. I see both Scouts and Trucks. I love that black truck and the medium olive and white equivalent above.

It was 3/4 ton 4x4 with 345 and 4 speed, and had an 8' cab-over on it so it hadn't been worked to death. But I had gotten sick and was going back to school and had no money or use for it at the time. I even sold my 1965 C/10 short stepside about that time. I've been looking all over for a picture of the Dodge W/300 that our VFD used to have, but I can't find it. Probably on a hard drive from a dead PC. It was a real beast that could go anywhere and just push stuff out of the way. But the steering was bad and you didn't want to drive it very far on the highway. But instead of fixing it the state traded it out for a new F-550. The power wagon might have gone to a ranch or Hoot Colony for a while. |

Saw this WWII era Dodge today.
Does the German bike count as a 4wd? |
Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
I guess the thread is titled 4wd, but the forum is 4wd & Off Road. It fits in. I wonder why they even bother with the front fork and wheel. They had the ability to turn track vehicles back then. I would think think that little old wheel would plow with both tracks pushing

Ah, one a them little foreign jobbies, ey? Cute. I like it. Never saw one before either. The only foreign vehicle, other than old VWs, I ever bought was a new '87 Samurai. My first new vehicle. It was for my wife to commute to nursing school in. That thing was neat. I figured I'd build a serious off road toy with it when she was done with it, but traded it in for a '90 Blazer when she started working. I'd still like to build a cool Samurai toy
Not mine |

We went with them on a scenic drive but damn! he drove that little thing too fast. I thought for a bit that he was going to flip it and roll down a thousand foot cliff and kill all four of us. Other than that it was a cute and capable little jeep. :) |

The IHs look like what I’d imagine Studebaker might produce. Studebaker isn’t in spell check btw.

Spellcheck seems weak in working man's vocabulary. They tell me I am misspelling words I have used all my life. I rely on typing a word in the Google search box for a better real world way to check spelling.
If the Internationals weren't known for being hard to get parts for I would have had one. Hence the reason I am a Chevy man. Best parts network on earth. I had the '69 Dodge W200. That was hard getting parts for back in '77. Then came Chevys. dodge was building a heck of a truck in the '60s but not many wanted them. Perhaps behind the time in styling, but ahead of their time in build. Dodge offered a 1t 4wd in single or dual wheel/regular cab or crew cab, a shortbed 3/4t 4wd in regular or crewcab, the W500 medium duty, and the original Power Wagon was still offered into the mid-60s along side of the w-series 4wds |

How about this wimpy thang? I do like the first one better, but I'd own it |

Cute, but seems like a dumb idea to me. I would have started with a K5 Blazer converted to 4 wheel coil and link suspension, and maybe 40" tires. |

Saw that on a tv show . Its from Australia or New Zealand . He built it on a newer 4x4 .

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
It looks well built, fully capable with neat vintage style. I'd like to see it in action.
