Thank you mike. I hope your moving along on your truck this summer!

We got the the cab sheet metal installed and got the gaps about right. Still need to tighten up the driver lower fender gap. But all in all they look great. Especially since these were horrible from the factory. Hahaha

Here is a video of the truck out in the sun.

First time out in the sun

Here are a few pictures.....the last photo you can see the clouds in the hood!

Looks and sounds amazing!!! You may have posted this earlier, but what muffler are you running on that?

Thanks guys it is great to see it come together.

The exhaust is a dual 2-1/2" to 1-3". Muffler it is a magnaflow but it has a 3" cutout which in the video it was open about 50%. so I can cruise nice and quite or nice and loud:metal:

Posts start about 251... regarding the exhaust

Thanks again! I put a Comp cam XR259HR in it. Nothing crazy since it was a 4X4. I wanted more low end torque.

Hey guys not a lot getting done since I am coaching football. But today I was able to get some sound deader installed on the kick panel areas of the cab. I also was able to sound deaden the actual kick panel and get the speakers test fit. Now I will be able to finish up the kick panel when it gets upholstered.
I also did not like how close the dimmer switch was to the kick panel so I desired to make an aluminum tapered block. Fits great and easily to use when needed.

I have a question for you guys.
The pictures show the front of the truck with amber or clear lenses.
Which one do you guys think?

Clear gets my vote

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

Yea clear looks better in this case as it has a blue hew to it. But that said I'm still kinda stuck on stock items for these trucks too.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

Amber, really nice contrast to the Blue. The clear looks really nice also for a more custom look. I would not mix but match either all clear lens or all colored for your truck. It's going to be sharp! 👍

Thank you Brett! I am torn but I will get the truck together and put both styles on and see which I like best at the time.

Hey guys. Been a little busy coaching football but got a few fun things for the truck.
1600 watts of high end amplification and 10” kicker slimline comp subwoofers.
I will be building a custom woofer box out of MDF and will be mounted via the gas tank bolt holes. Picture will be uploaded as I build it.

Started working on the speaker box for behind the seat.
Figured best time to do it since the interior is not in and the paint stull needs to be wet sanded and re cleared.

I built this box out of 3/4” MDF for 2-10” kicker CRT woofers.
I used the gas tank mounts to secure the box in place. With the sound deadener in the cab the box is solid.
After the box is installed permanently I will build an accent panel from the top of the box to the cab.

I decided to recess the woofers so they would not stick out on the box.

Should give a smooth look behind the seat.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

Nice job on the box. I have been contemplating building one too.

Thinking one 10" or 12" sub in center and 6x9's on the ends. 3 chambers. Bad idea?

Thank you!

I thought about 12" but really don't have the room or depth in my truck. I have aftermarket custom seats and wanted as make enough leg room as I could get so the 12" was out even the slimline!

If you go with a sub and a 6x9 you will differently have to separate the chambers or the sub will destroy the 6x9's.

I may add a small component set behind the seat belt area if i need it.

I have 6-1/2" Mids and 1" tweeters in the kick panals and a DVC in the center of the dash, plus the 2-10" Woofers. I hope it sounds good.
oh and I have 1600 watts of Audiocontrol amps.:metal:

I have to order the molded carpet kit. With the color scheme saddle and black I am not sure what to do with the carpet color....

Decided to use one of the gas tank bolt locations to run a ground stud through so I can ground the cab and the amps to the frame.

I installed a 12+ bulkhead lug in the floor to supply power to the fuses for the amps. I will get a picture of the power into the cab from under the truck when I get a chance.

Looking great man. I'm taking notes. Question. I see your using a large gauge wire for grounding here. Most places I read say to use the flat ground straps instead so you don't get feedback into the wiring system causing things like your speakers to have feedback from vibrations and engine revs. What are your thoughts on this?

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

Thank you for the props.
I have installed grounds from the frame to cab kind of like what was stock.
The ground you see is basically for the amplifiers only. By installing the ground stud in the original nut that is welded to the cab that secured the original gas tank. I added the 4gauge ground to each amp then a 2 gauge ground under the cab to the frame.
From my experience the ground loop (engine noise)is usually caused from the signal equipment. Stereo, EQ etc.
I hope this makes sense.
I hope to get back on the truck next week.

So if your stereo gets ground from the cab, and you have that big ground connected, will that cause issue? Or did I miss your point? My mustang always had engine noise in the stereo especially when I had my phone plugged into stereo with aux cable and also charging via cigarette lighter at same time. I don't want to make the same mistake in my truck but I don't really know what caused this...

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

On your application you would need a ground loop isolator.
It happens when you connect signal wiring like AUX cords and/or phone chargers to your stereo.

My son had the same probably you mentioned. I added the ground loop isolator on the rca connectors fixed the problem.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions, much appreciated. And again, your attention to detail is awesome, I've taken notes and tweaked them a little for my own build I like what you've done so much. Keep up the good work, your gonna have a one of a kind really nice truck :chevy:

Edit. I only grabbed technical ideas btw, didn't want it to sound bad like I'm stealing your hard work, gotta have my own design of course...

Cab is moving in tomorrow and will be cleared by the end of the day.

My painter said a total of 5 coats of clear. He said I won’t believe how flat and smooth it will be when it’s wet sanded and buffed.

Hey guys. I was able to get the panel cleared and the cab. I drove the truck for the first time down the road because the paint booth was 2 blocks away. It drove great but brakes are a little touchy but there is no weight in the truck. So we will see how it is once the truck is assembled. We are going to let the clear cure for a few weeks before we touch the paint.

I did have a set back. Someone wanted my stuff more than I did I guess because I got broke into. They took all my hand tools, cordless tools, all my air tools and my tig welder. Oh and they also took the vin plate I had in the tool box waiting to get put on. It insured but some thing can not be replaced.
Sucks but I learned a big lesson.
Anyone have a k10-20 Vin laying around????

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

Thanks guys.
I have to figure a way to secure my building and the yard before I replace any tools. The night I got hit 3 other businesses got it also, some for the 5th or 6th time. Sad thing is I had cameras and I got to match a guy with a Spider-Man mask on walk around like he owned the place. Wheel barreling my stuff out the door.

I now have WiFi cameras on the inside that alert my phone and iPad on any type of motion.
Sick feeling. But For $150 I think everyone should have them. $150 could have saved me a lot of headache and grief. I bought the Ring spotlight camera battery type from Home Depot.
