Well guys and gals, wanted to give an update of the FItech unit and gas milage, but it didn't work out. Mark and I headed to a car show in Corning, AR, on Saturday morning to be there for the first car show of the 68 GMC, Mark had built. A deer decided to occupy the same spot on the road I was driving. Needless to say it didn't turn out well. Mark and I are both fine, one deer (buck) dead. So no update on the fuel injection (and will be some time before I can do any update). During the winter I will get the truck repaired, and go from there.
Here's a few pics of the accident...Jim |
Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Have a couple questions. Has anyone used the Dynacore front fenders, and hows the fit? Also going back with a chrome grill this time, who has the best fitting unit? (Everything is more than likely made by same manuf. just sold under their name).
Thanks...Jim |
Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
What a way to Start my Day! So sorry to see that Beautiful truck in that Shape. Real glad your both Okay and didn't get hurt. Now you have something to keep you out of trouble this winter.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
I love this truck. Just glad it wasn't worse. A new fender and grill looks like all you need. I agree chrome grill would probably be an upgrade anyway!

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Dang! Glad you guys are alright

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Wow sorry to see that damage on your beautiful truck. Glad no one was hurt.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
oof, thats a kick in the belly. sorry to hear

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Ah man, sorry to see this happen!

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Just when things were going grate!
The Dynacorn stuff looks good but there is a lot of massaging to get it to fit. The weight of a replacement fender is MUCH less than a stock fender |
Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Oh no! Hate this has happened though glad you guys are ok.
|
Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Oh no, that's ugly. Glad you're ok.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Jim, I see you even damaged your wheel. Who do you carry you insurance with? Hopefully you will be able to settle with them without any problems. When my wife hit a deer they told her to go ahead and drive it to work, that's when we found out it had jumped a few teeth on timing gear. Her motor locked up and insurance would cover it saying that it was normal mileage problem. Needless to say we've changed companies and ended up with a lower overall cost.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Oldman3, I see front fenders often on CL for sale in the Kansas City area. It's the rear ones that are much harder to come by.
This guy has recently been listing a bunch of parts, might give him a try: http://kansascity.craigslist.org/pts/5766321470.html I know it's a bit of a drive for you but if you ever see something in KC area I'd be willing to check it out for you. I've seen the chrome grills in person at LMC and Classic Parts and think the finish quality on them is good though I can't comment on the fit. |

Jim, did you find a fender?
|
Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Well, at least you don't have to pay for a permit, wake up early, sit in a tree, gut a smelly old deer and then eat the thing and pretend it tastes good. You can just tell everybody you got your deer from the comfort of your driver's seat this year while you were road hunting with a "350 from about 65".
