Not much new here, working too much! I did score a new taillight harness off evilbay yesterday. Hope it helps me figure out my taillight setup. I want to get it all working before I even think about installing my new painless wiring kit!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Got the new rear taillight harness yesterday. Looks real good, brand on unopened package is American Autowire. Saving up funds for the fab up of the rear bumper, spare tire carrier, rollcage, and rock sliders!

If you run a c/v joint, to fix the driveline angle on a lifted blazer, you have to put the slip yoke end at the rear. Otherwise, keep it on the transfer case end.

Thank's Turp! I eventually want to go with a set of High Angle Drivelines, with a cv and thier driveline e-brake setup. But for now I will leave it as is!

No progress on the K5, but am working on moving more of the parts stash out of the basement to the K5 barn! Wife wants me to uncover her pool table again for winter time play!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

98% of K5 parts are moved out to the pole barn. Not organized out there yet, but in there. Weather is changing fast here, got to get moving. Oh, I did find the pool table-sort of! Will try to get some pic's soon!

Well I'm still here, just stashing cash away slowly for the next step. Not really sure what that is today, but working on it!

Been searching for my next set of shoes for the K5. Think I may have found what I want finally. NITTO TRAIL GRAPPLER M/T's. In 40x13.50R17LT. Got the tread pattern I want, but still have some road manners. Only thing holding me back right now is the $$. About $2500.00 for a set of 5, and that doesn't even add in the beadlock wheels I want! Any feedback here on the NITTO TG M/T's?

I heard great things about Toyo Open Country MT... So much so I bought some 35x12.5x18s for my K5... But I haven't got them on the road yet... My friend had a set on his crew cab diesel Dodge and got good results and he was tearing through the desert with them...

Thank's mcmlxix! I checked out TOYO's site, and they do make a tire in that same size, but am still leaning toward the NITTO trail grapplers. Planning on going with B.A.D 17X10 wheels. Both tire companies have this rubber in load range C, which is fine for my app. Need to order 5 new tire and 5 new wheels to fix this 1 ton upgrade setup! These 31" P265/75/R16" tires just are not right on my K5! 5 tires=about$2500.00--5 new wheels=about $2000.00--ouch! Anybody got pic's of some new 39" or bigger rubber on thier K5? Hello--overtime at work!

I found a set of Hummer H2 Wheels for a cheap stand in .... They're cheap around here and usually come with 315/70/17 BFGs... I think that about a 34" tire...

Nothing new here, just working more overtime to add to funds. Did go up and check out a jeep at CHAOS offroad. John just put a dana60 in the front with crossover steering and some custom spring mounts, looks pretty good! Guy was already running a 14blt rear, so now it's set up! Still wanting those Nitto trail grapplers in 40x13.50R17lt! Just keep saving, I guess!

Well Christmas is coming soon, and I've started my santa list. JEG's is offering free shipping & handling on everything right now! Need to set up a new ignition system for my 383 stroker thats waiting to go in the K5. Had my partner from work help me pick out what I will need for this upgrade. Hope santa's got a little extra for me this year!

Just looking through my old records on getting my winch bumper actually installed on my K5. Cost of original Kennesaw mountain wincher bumper shipped to me was $859.00 Then I had to have my friend John at Chaos off road rework it to fit my K5 which cost around $200.00 The wincher bumper was not even built right for a 1st gen K5, we had to weld on diamond plate on the top to make it conform to the angle of the front clip. Also, the frame brackets that were welded on to it would not fit right. Really had to redo the frame to bumper brackets completely. Bumper does not tuck under the grille and into the front fenders like I wanted, but I am very happy with the way it turned out in the end! Luckily, I have a fabricator friend that did almost all the labor for free! Warn winch mounted up, just needs to be wired up. Next step, he is going to fab up me a rear bumper to match-I am sure it won't cost as much as the front one. It will include a spare tire carrier, tow hitch, and etc. Can't wait for spring to get here!Attachment 1196587

Got my new transfer case skid plate yesterday from board member 72Ironmike. Awesome, got it cleaned up and painted today, did I say Awesome? So happy to get this skid plate as it is better than the stock setup I was gonna run.

Starting on a new parts search for this K5. Wanting to purchase a new windshield. Problem is I can find many online, but the shipping is killer. Mine is pretty cracked up, and I want to replace it when the bodywork is completed. Anybody done this ? Any advice or tips ? This part of my project is a way off, but I like to have this stuff on hand when it's ready to ripp into it!

Glass shops? I want to go new, and not a used one. I think I will check with my local body shop and see what they can do for me.

Pic's of the bumper I ordered, the bumper as I recieved it, and how it turned out when John at CHAOS off road was finished with it. Very happy with the way it looks! Looks like the winds of change are a blowing again. Stopped by the CHAOS shop today, and it may be the end. John was unloading the bus from the trailer, say's he is parting it out. Selling it off, possibly closing the shop for good. Looks like I need to find a new shop to help with the next step of stage 4! I do have a nice custom shop just 9 doors up the road, and am gonna check out what they can do for me. I think they can hook me up with the final welding and bodywork but i'm afraid it will cost me dearly.

OUCH! The Blazer fund is taking a big hit. Need to upgrade No. 1 daughters ride, so am going to hand me down wife's 2003 GMC Envoy. She's been driving my old 2001 S10 crewcab, but it's time to move on. Wife's picking up a 2011 Buick Enclave AWD with 79,000 miles in mint condition. Like I said, OUCH! Got some good news yesterday though, talked to my truck builder friend John about the shop's status. He's going back to work for a road construction company soon, and will keep the shop after all. Planning on using whats left of the monster bus for a new monster truck with a fiberglass body! Sounds good for me to continue stage 4 of my build at CHAOS OFFROAD!

Been kinda bored here, but just ordered up a new diff cover for the Dana60 front axle. Ballistic fabrication cover to match my ballistic high steer arms and crossover setup. Come on spring!!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Got the new diff cover today from Ballistic Fab, too cool! Heavy duty. Just got to clean it up and paint it. I will get one to match for the 14 bolt rear when funds are available! No problem with Ballistic fabs customer service or shipping this time around, all good.

Did the search a while back, What carburetor to run? Decided on the Quadrajet. Been running one for years, but the one on my 350 motor now is like 2 carbs made into one. Really did not want to rebuild that one. Picked up one recently from a board member in great shape in 1970 vintage-AWESOME! Ordered up parts for it to rebuild it, and they came in today. #1Rebuild kit-#2New carb float-#3 Idle pickup tubes-#4 Secondary metering well plugs. Just need to get it rebuilt and put it on. Will get some pic's asap.

Or, has anybody used something else to mount them up there on a 1st Gen? I was thinking with them mounted up there, I could angle them down for maximum light support. Anybody?

I found one I have:
