Yeah, it was a good score. The guy had it in a 1970 C10. I'll have to make some mods to it to get it mounted and then paint it gray to match the gauge bezels.

I was searching for tail light ideas and keep going back to my original idea. using 2 1959 Caddy taillights frenched on both sides. I can use a piece of exhaust pipe to french them the way I want. Just rotate this pic 90 degrees so it would flow into the bedside.

You need to enlist ChiefRocka to help with the drywall before you get too much more stuff in there:lol:. The truck is really looking nice, I always check in and see what your working on next.

I didn't work in the shop like I wanted. The honey do list caught up with me.:lol: But, I was able to excape for a little while and go look at a truck that sdailey found for me. It's got the best hood I've seen around here on a none restored truck. I wish it had a fleet bed and a V8. I guess I can't have it all. The outer rockers are very nice, but the floors need some work.

I couldn't stand it I had to go to the shop and do something. Threw in the new (used) tilt to see what all needs to be done to it to get it mounted. I am wondering if it needs to come toward the seat a little more. It's at a comfortable position like it is. If ya'll see something that I am missing let me know.

Like I said before I need to rewire it. I have a donor column that is not a tilt. Will the turn signal assy transfer over even if it is going from a non tilt to a tilt?

Like I said before, I messed up on the Rt front cab mount area and I don't know how. Can't blame it on alcohol, cause I don't drink. It really doesn't matter I still have to fix it. The bolt is where it needs to be.

man you won't believe what i found....a '65 big back window cab that is original with NO signs of rust or repair! i can't swing it now, but wish I could....
he said I could have it for $500.....so tempting

Alan,
I think that motor is a 230, judging from it's color. The 230 or 250 would be hard to tell apart. The HEI on it wouldn't fit the older model which is probably a 235. There would be a series of numbers/letters stamped in a pad just behind the distributor that would help id the motor.

I took today off due to our 17th anniversary. I told her 3 more years and I would've been a free man.:lol: She wanted the dinning room repainted. Had to pull some border off. About all of it came off really easy except the last 4 feet. It was just taking to long to get it all off. So guess what I did......Drug a air line to the house from the shop and sanded the rest of the border off. A picture is worth a thousand words.

My mistake hurts me too. I'm here sharing how to do this body work and I do something like that. On the up side I think anyone that reads this will learn as well. I'm still baffled how it happened other than not paying attention.

Thanks Curt, when I start working on the 55 I'll post the numbers so I'll know. I plan on getting the other truck and when I do I'll post the engine info.

My wife took this pic the other day of my good side while I wasn't looking then she came out too help. I was rolling the frame into position so I could set the cab on.

A little over kill, but if I didn't come up with something I still would be there getting glue off. 40 grit does great in removing wall paper.:lol:

I meant to ask you what you are going to do to make the column fit under the dash. Will you cut it open to fit the diameter of the column, or just fill it? I'm going to have the same problem. Got any ideas? I thought of cutting the notch bigger, and bending, & welding small tubing for the lip so it's not a sharp edge.

Looking at the picture it doesn't look like your column will work that far in when tilted up.

Keep in mind this the column is close to where it's gonna be, but as far as the opening I will just leave it the way it is. Once it's all done and painted there won't be many people that notice that there is a big opening. I thought about running a piece of rod around the opening, but I think I'll put some kind of door edge guard or something like it to make a gasket.

This is with the column tilted all of the way up. I might pull the column back toward the seat some more once I get it centered. When I center it and get the mounts on it might rise up a little more. Thanks for the input.

A wet towel, and hold an iron on it, will usually release the glue too. Or a steamer of some sort.

How much drywall damage did you do with the power tools? Drywall is a little softer than metal. :lol::lol:

We tried several things, but we didn't have any success in that area for some reason. Sanding with 40, 80 and 180 did the trick with minimal damage.

Not getting much done, fighting a cold.:waah: Trying to get some rest. Going to bed around 1-2 a.m. every night and getting up at 6:30 is catching up with me.

Been there done that. 3 or 4 days of those hours and then all of the sudden whammmm the 5th day day its like a load of bricks smacking you down.
