Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Yesterday I removed the masking tape from my headliner trim. And guess what came with it? The chrome! :( My supplier went to bat for me and is getting it exchanged for me. The next dilemma, my dash is hugger orange now and I have to make a decision to leave it or paint it a semi gloss black. What looks better in these trucks? I'm assuming the low gloss black will be better for no glare and such. Thoughts please?

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
I'm leaning towards semi gloss or near flat black on mine too.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
you could wrap it .....
http://www.auto-spuiten.nl/wp-conten...-wrapping1.jpg its available in flat black and you can take it off when you like the orange better , though im not sure if thats true in sunny states |

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
could you post pictures as is with the dashpad just set in place? it would give and idea of what we are looking at and then somebody could photoshop the orange black for you

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Ryan, I had all of my dash hugger orange in a 72 swb 4x4 I built from frame up. I put the chrome vents in the top of the dash with a black dash pad. Looked very nice. I even wetsanded and buffed the dash ( very anal ) it was clean!! I'll try to find some pics of it this weekend.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
When I painted my truck I had the top of the dash body color, mine is a dark teal. The face of the dash is semi gloss black with a black dash pad and black defroster vents. The other interior parts are also body color. I think it gives a little color contrast. It could work with Hugger Orange if its not too bright in the sun or SNOW. I deal with rain and it would be fine here.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
I'm thinking leave the dash orange... only my .02

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
We were playing with some with cab lights on her yesterday after Leon came over and put the Windshield and rear window in.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
I like the new lights. looks like the windshield install went smooth.
|
Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
It went better since Leon was there. And we haven't cut any holes or anything just seeing how they look and to get opinions.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Personally, I think the lights look Bad Azz!
I have to give a huge thanks to Leon, LockDoc, for coming over and helping install the windshield and rear window. Without your help, I wouldn't have trim in the gaskets! We had a little issues, but nothing like every one on here rants about. Must be Leon's magic touch! http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...n/IMG_0383.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...n/IMG_0384.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...n/IMG_0385.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...n/IMG_0379.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...n/IMG_0380.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...n/IMG_0381.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...n/IMG_0387.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...n/IMG_0388.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...n/IMG_0382.jpg |
Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
I made my windshield installer's week when I told him I was going back with a standard gasket and not the one with the trim. He was VERY happy!!
Truck looks great man!! So, test drive next week, right?? |
