I have been off here way too long. During my absence from the forum I did add a c10 long bed to my fleet. 1985 longbed 2wd with factory A/C. I saved it from the scrapyard for a very good price. Biggest reason I bought it was to put the engine and trans from my short bed in it since I decided to build a new engine and trans for the shortbed.

Some guy in my neighborhood hired a landscaper to cut down a broken tree. This was the landscaper's truck. Later that day I saw it going down the road loaded to the stops with wood.

I love it when old trucks still get up in the morning and go to work. JR

I just made this one mine and I am super excited about it. I've been trying to buy it for a while and finally brought it home last night.

Here's my 82. It was my Dad's from new. I got it a few years ago and had body work and paint done (kept his colors), removed the emblems and drip rails, lowered it 2", new wheels and tires, tonneau cover, installed recovered 1980 buckets, console and carpet, new moldings, rear bumper and mirrors. Got a new steering wheel on order. Stock 305 and automatic, both in great condition. A fun time machine.

This is my 84 GMC. I bought it 11-4-19, didn't run, so I replaced the QJet with a new Edelbrock, replaced the cap, rotor, wires and coil, and a friend did the plugs. Had to start it with a screwdriver but the PO gave me a new switch which i got installed last week. Body isn't in too bad of shape. I need tires, a carrier bearing, and some usual maintenance items, since it was sitting for 5 years.
I also have to replace the drip rails, and the wiring for the front park/turn signals and side clearance lights since someone cut them out. I kind of restored the grill but will eventually have to be replaced. |

I took a break from the board after I sold mY 1970 Suburban names Rusty, in honor of his color and condition.
Been playing with a, uh, uhummm (Power Wagon) for a little while but came back to first love the 73-87 square bodies. This is my 4th one after a dropped black 78 shirt bed, 75 step side 454, and an 81 383 stroker. Just picked up this 79 long bed. Running, driving, smogged and registered 350 4-bbl. solid running truck. Amazingly no major cancer. A little in the doors and fender but nothing in the cab/floors. Unfortunately, god needs replaced from flexing and rust but should be easy to pick up. Problem is going to be the roof. Looks like someone algae climbed in it several times and someone did a pretty mediocre job changing color from blue to white. Plans are to keep it simple clean up the interior, a home made faux patina paint job, put some rally’s back on it and drop it a couple of inches all the while doing some delayed maintenance, and getting dual tank switches working again. Ideally keeping investment under $2K. Most likely will look for help and advice from this group and post some progress pics. |
