I have a customer that owns a body shop in Ontario, Ca, and he says his shop hasn't been this slow in 35 years. He wants out. Lucky he owns the whole block, and is collecting rent from the other business' that are left. He wants to retire and work with me doing fun stuff. Right now I'm working on his 63 Convert Lark. Everything but body & paint. So far I'm lucky, and keeping busy for now.

I'll respond to everyones comments next. I just want to post these before everyone goes to bed. I worked all day just sanding the inside of the cab and getting it to this point.

I didn't have any sealer so I used a silver base coat that was left over for a uniform color for the orange to go over. It is pretty transparent.

Fighting bugs and low light conditions it turned out real good. Once I get some daylight on it I might change my mind.;)

Thanks for the info. I checked out the link earlier in the day, but couldn't find ceramic coated in that same one. I didn't spend much time lookin. Once the time and money comes around I'll look into it some more.

Those dents suck. I'm still not happy with mine, but with the roof being silver it should look good.

Had a good week week before last. It's the only one this year. Mainly it's around 60% of normal. This week will be in the toilet

Congrats on staying busy. Wish I had that option. My world consist of going to work and coming home. I don't get out much. What I'm getting at is I don't have a network people that knows what I do, other than those who read this thread.

Make sure that engine is a 5.7. During the '94-'96 years there was a 4.3 V8 that looks just like a 5.7 Sorry for the thread hijack Alan.

Hey Alan! Comin' along great!! Wish I had 1/2 the space to do a full resto. About the header situation, I found these for my 305sb. for a reasonable price. Just another option.... I found them at car-stuff.com #H5668600
They fit great and have plenty of ground clearance..

I don't get out much either. Remember I walk only 90' to my shop. Me being busy could all end at a drop of a hat. I'm getting known by word of mouth. I've only lived here 4 years. I lived in the Ventura, Ca area since 1977 and knew a lot of people, and don't know very many people here. You need to get that truck done, and hit the cruise nights, and car shows. That will get you going. My 56 Belair got me lots of work. Too bad I had to sell it to finish my shop. It was my calling card. Now I have to get my truck done to help get the word out.

Thanks man, at day break it looked the same, just some dust. The main thing is there weren't any bugs doing the back stroke.

It is pretty bright.

I forgot the headers they post aren't the header,s you will get. They dont have the right ones pictured, if you look back to the other post I sent you, it's those headers.

Hey Alan, looking good!!! About the headers, as another option for you, I used Summit G9014's. Smog header for 88-98, shorty. I had to weld up the O2 sensor port and they were tight on the drivers side, but I used the front position for the engine. In the back position you would have a little more clearance, I imagine. They turned out to be Pacesetter's.

What gun did you use to spray the roof? I am thinking of getting those kits for my gravity feed that will spray upside down.

Thanks for the info, but if I had too weld on them I couldn't get cermanic coated.

It's a Matco gun I think it's a 1.4. The tool guy was going out of business and got 2 of them for $100. It's not an Iwata or Sata but serves me well. The PPS system is awesome, but figure $.80-1.00 per liner. Clean up is awesome and no leaks and can spray upside down like you said.

Since I don't have any cars to work on now at work, I figured why not get something done on the old truck. Got some small parts painted black. Someday I will learn how too paint all of the edges. It drives me nuts. I walk around and make sure I got everything and hit the bake cycle. I go to get them out of the booth and there is a gray edge.

I like looking at your thread, because your always doing something with it even if it doesn't matter right now. Mines at a stand still, no more money right now and I have to go back to work Monday so my trucks at my parents. 4 hours away so work wont get done much.

I had to go out to the shop and do something. I prefitted the serpentine setup. I think I have the belt on right. The only issues I see right now are: I need a new water neck, the altenator bracket is very close to valve cover, but it does clear. Also the bracket at the #1 header port. Nothing major. I also had to put some bling on it to make me feel like I'm doing something.:lol:
