It's a first notch operation! OK, now for some progress. I had my glass guys install the rear hatch glass and the 2 side glasses. They will be back next week to put the front windshield in. I call them my "glass guys" because I won't let anyone else touch my projects,. They've been doing glass for me for about 15 years. They're car guys and the truly enjoy working on older vehicles (they've been in business for 42 years!). Here's some pictures of the glass and a couple of pictures of my solution to putting the temperature sender in the passengers side head. It's a 1/8 npt to 12mm 1.5 bushing. It beats drilling and retapping the head and it's not as bulky as the adapters most people use. |
Re: 1969 SuperBurb build-up (Bagged and Blown!)

Re: 1969 SuperBurb build-up (Bagged and Blown!)
Hart....I think they are okay....but it's so unlike you to use the usual and not have something else custom:lol:

Those gauges look awesome! I know that you had that done a few years back, but you have a ballpark cost on just the gauges? Looks like a bunch of $$$.
+1 on the Mar-K stuff. I have used their stuff in the past with good results. |

Re: 1969 SuperBurb build-up (Bagged and Blown!)
Rob, I have a few questions. Hope you can share some of your wisdom.
You are using the ECE motor mounts correct? I am starting to install a LS2 in my 72 GMC truck. I also have the ECE mounts. What headers would you recommend, the Thorleys? I will be using a 200 4R trans, which is still in the truck. My LS2 is like a 01 or 02, and I would like to use the mechanical fan that's on it. I wonder if I can use it with the stock radiator? Why did you go electric, radiator to fan spacing? |

Here are a few pictures of the modification I did to my "drive by wire" gas pedal that allowed me to install a stock 72 CST pedal in it's place. I also got all the steering linkage cut and connected.

Here are some pictures of what the inside of a "NEW" engine looks like when I pulled the valve cover, :metal:. I'm thinking about painting the valve covers, but I can't decide between red or black???? Also, any suggestions to where to install a oil temperature sender for a 4L60E? TIA.

Re: 1969 SuperBurb build-up (Bagged and Blown!)
I like to put a Trans. Temp sender in the line with one of these... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ATM-2287/
That way you don't have to unhook it everytime you change the filter and fluid. |
Re: 1969 SuperBurb build-up (Bagged and Blown!)
I say red with a white stripe like the truck. Why not.
|
Re: 1969 SuperBurb build-up (Bagged and Blown!)
i say paint them red and have whoever made you that scrolling badge make a scrolled piece to go all the way down the center of the valve covers....its just money and it would look killer
|
Re: 1969 SuperBurb build-up (Bagged and Blown!)
Your engine should look like that after 20k also. Without the exhaust crossover and hot intake baking the oil. Mine looked pretty clean when I had it open at 20K. Does your shifter get into all gears and also is the column adapter made by Lokar or your custom design?

1st opinion would be black Powdercoating/or paint (glossy)

Accomplishments today:
Drilled and tapped oil port to install oil pressure sending unit. Painted one of the valve covers red (not sure if I like it yet). Mounted the fuse for the air bag compressor. And I finally started on the wiring......... what a mess....:D. |
