Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Did an oil change to get a better idea of the condition of the engine I just put in and have been driving for about a month. Oil was really solid, wasn't abnormally black, nor did it have any grit in it... yay. Fixed an oil leak on the top of the motor, who would have thought you'd need a gasket under the distributor! (I forgot to put it on when I put the HEI in I guess.) Then I installed a cheap little oil gauge in the truck since all I have are idiot lights. Ran out of time to make my gauge holder/bracket so it's just zip-tied to the dash for now. Next weekend I'll finish that up and get my temp gauge installed and put my new torque converter cover on... hopefully.

2/28/10 Lots accomplished on the frame clean up from forward cab mount to front bumper mount. Not done but getting there! Time, patients and favorable weather helped!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Today with the weather being near perfect I was able to weld up the last of the small holes that the PO had put in the door for bigger West Coast mirror's and welded up the chevy C-20 badge holes. I drilled out the two holes needed for mounting the V-6 emblems on the front part of the fender.
I also drilled out the last remaining nut (broken bolt) that held on the stock mirrors. I'll have to use longer bolts and reach from behind the panel to put on the new mirror. I can't remember if they have a blind nut anchor for this I thought there was, Anybody got a pic or link for one. I tapped my very first hole for a 16 t/per inch for the lower fender mount. And tonight I'm going to a club cruise-in. All in All a perfect day. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I dug into both my front fender bottoms to see what kind of patching they'll need.
The right side had a 4" x 5" metal patch riveted in and then slathered with bondo. The left side had just bondo filling the rust holes and dents. A half inch over most of it and a clob the size of a baby's fist in the biggest hole. Gotta love previous owners! |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I replaced the windshield and the hood today on my '64 C10. Thanks to my father in law who new how to put the windshield in. I never would've gotten it on my own.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I actually installed my bed fill gas filler, installed the peel-a-mat in the doors to quieten them down, put the right bolts to hold my front bumper on, and installed almost all of the bolts holding the bed wood and the strips together.....
oh, and I sprayed off the truck to help keep it clean..... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/132_4910.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/132_4912.jpg |

Well I was off today so I did some cleaning for preparation for this Spring when I will start back on her.
I checked the truck all over and seen all the troubled areas that needs to be addressed. The truck has sat for 4 years so there is a lot issues that need to be addressed. My plans are to beef up the Power Train Set-Up. Engine, trans, front and rear suspension. The theme idea is going to stay the same. Nostalgia Pro/Street. Here are some of the Pics I took today. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I have to stop looking at you interior! It's giving me ideas. Yea, I am going to start back on her soon. It will be a slow progress though. Little bit of money along with a little bit of time it seems. I will keep the updates coming. I just miss driving her, and barking the tires when I shift the gears manually.... |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
What kinda BS would you need to run those.......and I am assuming you have a narrowed rear end?

I set up another bedroom:lol: No room in shop. At least its dry. Other than that I only had time to bend & install one brake line.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I cut up an 8 ft bed (only an 81 year model) then cut up some of the frame and rear diff and stuffed it all in my Ford Ranger. Oh yeah. And a front crossmember out of a 66 c 20. Drum brakes and all. Next time I go to my shop space, I think I am going to bring the front end home so I can clean and rebuild it.
