I need to make it to that show one of these times. Will the Scotti be there or are you savings that for camping at 50s ?

Door seals... Who make the best ones? The seals I got on no paint are so hard you have to slam the doors so hard ... Soft Seal?
We are finishing up some drivability stuff with "No Paint" Also need part number for a good duel piston front calipers that will work with the Mcgaughy dropped spindles. |
Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck
I like Steele Products .

Soft seal is a good source and for the brake calipers you want to go with a Wilwood d52 caliper. These will be a direct bolt on to your spindal you have on your truck. They either come in a red or black and work great

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck
Well Guys... After 4 different carbs... and a smaller bank account... We have determined that we have an issue with the fuel system... "No paint" will only run off of the front Moon Style tanks.. The Mustang tank located behind the rear axle will not flow fuel... zero fuel pressure... we are using 2 in line filters -6an and -8 an for lines...
How are you guys running your fuel lines? Do I need an electric pump? Also had a Billet Holley HP performer pump on it.. same issues... We have not installed fuel flow check valves in the system... but we have the parts to install.... any ideas guys... currently we have the "New Street Demon" carb built by Holley.. similar to the Q-Jet / Edelbrock carb... |
Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck
Holley ultra mech fuel pump... any ideas guys about my fuel issue... How are guys running there fuel lines with the Porterbuilt notch?
|
Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck
do you have a roll over valve and is it vented? no vent the tank will build up pressure and won't draw fuel
|
Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck
No roll over vent installed... Is that the issue ? I will call Tanks Monday AM.. Thanks...

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck
Well, We had our head ace mechanic here for 3 hours today , We found a few issues.
1) 1 bad Russell fuel shut off valve which would back feed fuel from the small 3.5 gallon tanks mounted in the box. 2) Installed Russell back flow check valves in main fuel line from back tank and also in the front tanks. 3) Re-installed Holley HP Billet fuel pump 7.5 psi pressure all good BUT... after 45 min. run time .. NO FUEL PRESSURE Again...... rear lines are Aeroquip -8 an lines / Moon Style tanks are all -6 AN Aeroquip lines also... 4) Also FYI... the tanks are vented and also replaced the TANKS Mustang style tank in the rear also... the 1st tank the pick up tube broke off in assembly ... man am I frustrated .... are the Aeroquip lines collapsing ?? :fb: |
Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck
Sorry I can't think of any ideas (3 tanks is a little above my pay grade). For troubleshooting, you could grab a bunch of cheap rubber fuel line and just run a temporary line from the tank to the fuel pump and see if that fixes it.
|
Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck
Great thread and great build.
I'm no fuel expert, but I agree with cAlvis165. I would also separate the three tanks for testing. 1 at a time with temp lines, then hard lines. Then add one at a time 'till all three are working or the problem is isolated to one system. Please excuse me if you've already done this. Dave. |
Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck
Thanks guys.. It maybe an issue with the 18 foot on fuel line we have routed in this truck.. calling Holley tech. line guy today
|
Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck
You get it figured out, man?
|
Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck
It is boiling the fuel after the pump... our new crappy gas with boil at 90 degrees .. fuel temp was 166 ... moving a coolant line and re-routing a fuel line
|
Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck
dang i never would have guessed that.. what is heating it up so bad? exhaust, compressors?
|
Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck
The upper coolant line into the intake manifold... and the fuel line out of the mech. fuel pump is 1/4 in. from lower rad. hose.. All plumbed with alum. AN fittings boiling fuel at the 90 degree bends..

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck
Glad you got it figured out! Hope you get it all fixed, and can enjoy driving it soon!

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck
5th is overdrive and 6th is a DEEP overdrive in that tranny correct? Seems to me you are over cammed. Looks like the RPM range for that cam STARTS at 2500 RPM and tops out at 6400. 2500 RPMS in that tranny in 5th gear is going how fast? I have a 383 stroker in my Impala with a 670 cfm carb and a more moderate cam that starts around 1500 RPM's. It only dynos at 394 H.P. but makes 454 ft. lbs of torque. For ****s and grins bring it up to about 4500 RPM in 4th and shift into 5th and see if it will pull then. I just think it is set up for too high of an RPM range. Also, what is the carb? Is the timing right?
