I've never seen one like it. I personally wouldn't like the Auto Trans either, but if the Engine runs good, that's not a bad price.

I am thinking to buy it and make some kind of ratrod out of it. $1200 dollars is not bad considering in runs fine. Down side is automatic transmission. Think it is worth the price?
Sorry about the low quality pictures best I can do. I have only talked to them.
I apologize for the off topic post but had no idea where to post it to get a informed answer.

looks like t was a shuttlebus in its former life , the front of it makes me think breadtruck maibe you need to look intoo that direction

Goodness, What a thread full of "eye candy". Covers many bases of the loads they haul, too. Nice!

Flyboy... Verify the Allison on that watermelon hauler . If it the medium duty MT 643, it's bulletproof. If it's the smallest AT 545. they've gotten cheap for used units........should be able to get one for 250-300 bucks .

Cheap truck at that price !

junkmandan3,

I bought the Champion bus for $1100. It has the 3116 Cat in it. I don't know about the trans yet but I do know the engine and transmission run out great. Shifts feel good and no even a wisp of smoke when you do a full power takeoff. First diesel I have ever owned that I could not get to blow at least some smoke. I followed it home in my Cummins powered Dodge 3500 and never even smelled it. It is turned down real lean I guess. The odometer shows 310K miles. It sure runs out great for that kind of miles. I will get a flashlight and find tags to see what it has. The guy I bought it from knew just about nothing about. No paper work at all. Here is a better picture except I am in it to spoil the view. The tire standing beside it was to try to see what it would look like if I shortened the wheel base. I think I will leave it alone. Air bags on the rear are nice.

congrats , seems like a verry comfortable rig too to get in and out of , no high steps to get in the cab flat floor you can stand up inside too
if they put in good seat it prolly be more comfortale and roomie to drive than a regulair truck

still think it used to be some sort of bus in its former life

watahyahknow,
You are exactly right. In its former life it was a 15 passenger bus. Guy I bought it from cut it off as the way you see it and hauled watermelons and palm trees in it.

Re: GM Semis

Beautiful truck. WOW Your post made my day. I looked at an old Reo yesterday. Here in north Florida it is so humid it rusts under a shed. The Reo was just rusted away. The 348 was a fine engine in it's day.

That's a long one. I like them. They do look odd in front of a van body.

I wish I had my camera. I was on I-70 and there as this straight log truck ahead of me gettin' right on up the road with some big trunks for around here. Turned out to be a General. It was in nice condition. He was steady rolling in the left lane. I got along side him and it was quiet.

Beautiful example of a nice Extended Hood 9500.

Note the optional Cab Lights and there's that cool factory Triple Horn again.

Almost a guarantee it's an 8V-71 with those Dual Stacks like it has.

Another one that would look real nice in my driveway, lol.

Yes, looks like a '66-'68 western style MH-9501, the 'Magnificent Hauler'. The triple Grovers were on the trucks photographed for the brochures and advertisements.

maibe it used to be a bus and they patched the rear to the cut front

68panelman 02-10-2015 08:42 PM

Re: GM Semis

It's the very short wheelbase that really throws me off. And what's with the disc like thing right behind the cab too?

watahyahknow 02-10-2015 10:39 PM

Re: GM Semis

was looking at that too , cant realy tell if its an tank or a air/mud deflector plate
the wheelbase isnt that short
european single rearaxle tractors have about the same length
then again most european countries limit the total length of trucks and trailer(s) to 18 meters (about 60Ft)
