Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
Good to hear
|
Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
Very good news about Pops.
|
Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
Good news man! It's funny that I call my dad "pops" and everyone that hears it thinks its the oddest thing ever. I started it when I was a kid, think I picked it up from sanford & son lol
|
Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
So happy for your "Pops" Prayers for him to fully recover!!
|
Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
I wasn't happy.
https://www.gwellwood.com/wordpress/...48-672x378.jpg Also, went for a walk today, first time after 5 days of covid. Wow. Winded real fast. I should have expected that, but I was surprised. |
Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
Glad to hear both of y'all are doing better

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
And here, like a week ago:
https://www.gwellwood.com/wordpress/...42-672x378.jpg And widened the brake pedal twice because I can't measure: https://www.gwellwood.com/wordpress/...13-672x378.jpg |
Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
In an impulsive move, I decided to spray the underside of the hood engine bay colour instead of body colour.
https://www.gwellwood.com/wordpress/...22-672x378.jpg And to feel productive, I hung the doors. Different camera, which captures the orange better: https://www.gwellwood.com/wordpress/...04-672x378.jpg |
Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
It'll be nice, do you paint the doors in the cab?
|
Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
The gray was previously painted on the doors. The orange will be painted on the doors along with the whole truck all in one go.

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
Blasted and epoxy primed the hood hinges,
https://www.gwellwood.com/wordpress/...52-672x378.jpg and took a blurry picture of the plugged antenna hole. https://www.gwellwood.com/wordpress/...19-672x378.jpg |
Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
Painted the hood hinges and the heater duct/valve/thingie:
https://www.gwellwood.com/wordpress/...12-672x378.jpg Also picked up two sets of LS injectors on the weekend (50% off sale at Pick-N-Pull) which I will decap and get cleaned and flow tested. |
Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
Pops came home from the hospital last night. 25 days stay. Home care started that very evening too (yay). He seems to have aged considerably since before he went in. We'll see how he is once he gets some strength up along with consistently taking his meds.
Got the rubbers seals on the inner fenders on Monday, and might be installing those tonight. |
Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
Good news about your Pops. Praying for his full recovery.

Primed a set of my 18" steelies, and the cowl outers, and the fasteners: https://www.gwellwood.com/wordpress/...43-672x378.jpg https://www.gwellwood.com/wordpress/...25-672x378.jpg Also picked up a Fuel Injector Cleaner/Tester and have been playing with that, and twenty-four Chevy LS injectors: https://www.gwellwood.com/wordpress/...11-672x378.jpg |
Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
Faux white-walls (photo saturation changed to better portray the actual orange):

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
So how much are you charging for injector cleaning and flow test?
Those wheels look awesome! |
Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
Wheels look fantastic.
Hope your Dad is making progress. P. :D |

Local guy has a proper ASNU machine, and charges $30 per injector, which I believe includes new seals and filter. |
Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
Dad's home again. Looking a bit better than when he last came home. We'll see.

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
You know what is hard to install all by yourself? The Hood. The hood is hard.
https://www.gwellwood.com/wordpress/...22-672x378.jpg Use some "studs" (long bolts with the head cut off) to use as a "pin" to keep the rear hood mount hole in the hinge, while you fumble to get the front bolt in. Then unthread the "pin" and thread in the rear bolt. All the while balancing the hood on your back/shoulders/head. |
Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
I'm also a bit afraid of having to work on my hood and then install it. But you found a good solution.
|
Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
Met with pop's case manager today. Some new at-home assessment since he's come home from the hospital. They've begun paperwork to get pops in a home. Freaking yay!! Such a relief.
|
Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
I'm glad to hear that you're able to get some relief. I watched my dad struggle with everything related to the declining health of his parents. It's never easy

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
Ordered a new Champion Rad, rated at 700hp:
https://www.gwellwood.com/wordpress/...25-672x378.jpg Assembled the front, discovered just how "not perfect" things don't line up, and really stopped caring about it: https://www.gwellwood.com/wordpress/...-1-672x378.jpg And blasted/primed/painted the Hydroboost/Power-Steering cooler: https://www.gwellwood.com/wordpress/...01-672x378.jpg |
Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
Also fabricated a die to form my own logo to put in the blank tailgate I bought:

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
SkinnyG, that is just to cool!! damn fine job sir.

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
Do these fill panels need seals?
https://www.gwellwood.com/wordpress/...11-672x378.jpg And..... Because of the raised inner fenders, I had to cut off the springs that hold the hood up. So..... hood supports! OBS Yukon/Blazer hatch supports, and purchased 10mm-ball-&-5/16-UNC-stud. https://www.gwellwood.com/wordpress/...55-672x378.jpg |

Note to self: "Just paste the url, and delete the s. Why can you still not remember this?" |
Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
First blocking, and second coat of Epoxy Primer. The walnut bag of fender carnage has, at this point, ZERO filler. Even _I_ am impressed.

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache
I see you, fender-edge defect. Curses.....
