**** Oil pan should be here Friday. I got the Holley LS brackets and really like the way they look and bolt up. I will have to make a few mods for the supercharger, but they should work perfect on Jakes LS1 in his 68 (pics). |
Re: 68 S/C update.....

Re: 68 S/C update.....
Rob is that the F-Body pan? And also what is that sensor for in the side of the oil pan. Is it a crank sensor or something? Sorry for the stupid questions, I'm a LS newb. Just trying to learn more.

Progress!! I've been waiting on a tool to install the crank hub and it finally showed up today. So I go it installed and I finally got all the parts and pieces for the bracket setup bolted on. So after 4 trips to different parts store, I finally found a belt long enough to fit (120", :)). Before I said what I was doing, the guy at O'Reilly's said "you must be putting this on a supercharger....". Anyways, here's a some pictures.

Today I made a pattern for a bracket that helps support the snout of the supercharger. I just need get a buddy to machine it out of .25 aluminum and this part of the motor swap will be done, :metal:. |

I got the supercharger snout support bracket back from my machinest for a test fit. I still need to clean it up but it fits great. I thought about adding something in the middle to break up the big piece of aluminum, but I'm not sure what I should put in there....suggestions?

Re: 68 S/C update.....
Could go with a simple bowtie! :chevy:
Might consider a name. (Does the truck have a "name"?) Add a simple pattern to it, wouldn't "open" it up, but it would break up the broad, flat expanse of the bracket.:confused::confused: |
Re: 68 S/C update.....
"supercharged" emblem
|
Re: 68 S/C update.....
How about matching the pattern and texture of the Alt bracket or go black to match the SC.

Can you cut a "window" in the bracket to make it less bulky, without losing strength?
How thick is it? |

Keith, it's a 1/4" aluminum. There's a piece that bolts on just below the s/c snout, so I'm not sure I could cut it out without maintaining the strength. I'll have to ask my machinist. I thought about having another one waterjetted out of stainless, the cutout would probably work then. |
