Found a hood for my truck today $25! It has one dent in it, but I can fix that. I am picking it up Saturday.

On the hoods they can get a bit testy when you start to block the hood out.. "coke can effect" I used an extra set of inner braces and that made the blocking and body work go very smoothly.. Just a FYI its super easy to do, and will create a much stiffer hood in the process.

Very cool idea! I will be combining two hoods soon to get a good one and will add the second set of braces for sure.

Yesterday on the way to a cruise night I heard a scraping behind me and pulled over, found 5 lug nuts rattling loose in the LR hubcap and the wheel held on by the 1 remaining lug nut, which was half loose.
Put the lugs back on, and checked the other wheels and found nearly all the lug nuts were a bit loose.
I'd had radials put on on Sunday, and painted the rims on Monday and this was the first time I'd driven it. So either I didn't tighten them down enough, or the old beat up looking lug nuts just aren't staying tightened(before the tire shop took them off, who knows how long they'd been in place).
I've got 24 new lug nuts waiting at the Napa for me to pick them up, and I ordered a few wheel studs in case any of the ones on the LR wheel were damaged. It definitely made that drive more interesting that expected. But I have to say the radials are an *astounding* improvement over the old bias plys.

Replaced all the lug nuts and made sure they were properly tightened this time.

Rebuilt the carb & replaced the float, still running super rich though. A 230 should not suck this much gas.

Not really today but last night finished up my head swap to a freshly rebuilt 194 head, installed heddman headers and offenhauser intake, edelbrock 1405 4 barrel carb, and dual exhaust with thrush glasspacks. Today will be an oil change since I did a coolant flush when the head was off.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Picked up a hood and doorpost/cowl bubble from the junkyard. $45 total.

The hood is from a bus and has a large dent, but it has zero rust through.

I am pretty stoked. Been looking for a hood since last August.

They also have two doors I will pick up next weekend for $25 each.

I found out a friend of mine has a 65 painted grill with a small dent for $25.

The body work will go MUCH faster now.
