thanks Dale! had a pretty good time, had planned on taking the quad, but a ****** mouse ate my battery cables, so me & dawg went hiking instead...
got a little more on the '66, motor is just about done, got to re-do the throttle return spring, my ham fisted digits gripped my tweezers a little too hard and kinked it in half....

yeah Dale, even a day in the bush with yer mutt & no quad is still better than a day at work......or with your family....:metal:
got some paint slung on the chassis, still gots to do d-shafts, exhaust, crossmember for the steady bearing (2 piece rr shaft) & all that stuff. found a sheet of bilstein decals in the parts box for the shocks

tell ya, this color is impossible to try photo....comes out faded or silver-ish
Attachment 1582672Attachment 1582673

different angles, trying to get the green in it to show...
everything is just temp, still have to clear the body. just seein' if everything fits......still...usually build them like the factory, chassis & motor together, then the body drop....well the 427 is wider than the 283 & would not fit in there (don't know how i missed that one.....:metal:)
pulled the inners out a couple mil's, still not nearly enough, so now it's like how we usually do it after the factory, drop in afterwards...little more work but plus side the engine bay is filled up nicely now.

yeah, lookin' forward to doing the blaze Dale, if flipping exchange & shipping were'nt so expensive right now, i'd order the '69 grille for it, hard to justify $35.20, more than i paid for the kit....
some pic's of the '66. guess i should have blown the dust out of the engine bay first...

thanks j.kirn, that '62 your doing, would that happen to be the old AMT/MPC kit?
got these rims for the blazer. still not sure, think i'll go dig threw the parts box some more...
butt-loads of flash all over this thing, & the bedsides are not very strait or level, check out the topper fitment

stockers from the kit
Attachment 1584273

the stockers are a little small.
this is how they stayed put for the picture....
Attachment 1584274

maybe leave the roof off, one thing that always bugged me, why could'nt chevy make the door line up with the bedside.....

.....or the bedside line up with the door (yeah, purists are cringing....)

still trying to decide on rims...
if ya look closely at the front rim, i drilled out all the "holes" in the rim

these are the only other 6 bolts i got right now
Attachment 1586027Attachment 1586026

i was thinking this is neat, seperate axles & springs....figured i would just make some lift springs, untill this....
Attachment 1586029

waaaay too short! guess i'm building axles...

one thing i have pretty much decided on is, between the twisted bed rails & warped top, blaze will most likely be topless. scratched up a bar & lights

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

It looks good toppless (I'm kinda fond off topless things lol). The rollbar looks good too. Love the period correct KC lights.

yup, topless is nice....heh heh...
well, on the hugen hour thing at work again, been slow on the blaze...
my even out the door/quarter panel plan does'nt really pan out. the fenders look good lined up with the doors, but the tailgate looks reeeeal goofy raised up to match, so scratch that.
decided to try make the top work, figured i would'nt glue the rollbar in so i could go either way, top on or off.
started by fixin & straitening out the bedrails & replacing the missing corner of the door

.....then the topper.........................
started by just trying to flex it back into place, did'nt really do much....
Attachment 1587133

so, my wife's skinny pigs cage is in my model room, perfect! put it in front of their heater....looks ok except for that weird crease by the door pillar 90 degree....
Attachment 1587134

oh yeah, this is nice.....:metal:
so for now she's going topless, if i get the gumption later on, i'll have another whack at it...
Attachment 1587135

was kind of a drag, lost a little wind out of the sails, so......

....the postie come to my house today!
just took a quick break off the blazer to play with the humvee i bought at china mart the other week...and the swampers the mailman dropped off.
just a snapper, but i think i can detail it up. i love H1 hummers, just too cool! here it is dry fitted, box stock, minus the roof mounted rocket launcher
Attachment 1587136Attachment 1587137

plan is to de-militarize it. everything on the roof will be shaved off, & some real hummer worthy tires :metal:
cant really narrow the susp on it, so the plan is to also add some fender flares

he also dropped off these swamps too...:metal:
with our buck in the crapper again, buying from down south is getting progressively more retarded, 'cause i'd like to get another '50 chev kit, or even a donor cab & make a extended cab out of it. i think the porportions would look better than a crew, but, blaze & then hummer first. maybe find something by then...

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

The '64 turned out sweet!!! Makes me want the real thing lol...I got some tires from streetscenes.com I think, but when I got them I was kinda disappointed. I ordered 4 sets, 49" Iroc, 44" boggers, 37" Truxus MTs and some "offroad tires" that are baja claws I think. But none of the tires are true to size. The Irocs and boggers are bigger than most tires, but not true to scale. Not to mention skinny as hell. The other two are smaller than many current box tires, so I was pretty bummed when I did some comparing. But I see you get your tires from BNL, how do they stack up? Looks like they are truer to scale. I have all these kits, and no time!!! Or place to do it where my 1.5 year old boy won't get into them. I went to local model show and picked up a crew cab to match my 99, just gotta find all the pieces....
