I noticed, the width of the top bed rail on a 67-72 is EXACTLY the width of a beer bottle! Coincidence? I think not!

What kind of hammered paint is that? Special engine stuff or the Krylon?

Looks pretty darn good.

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck

Rustoleum hammered paint. By the quart or in bombs. Lays out good with a cheap brush and real tough when dry. Easy peasy. Thanks!

I've seen it around, but have never used it.

As long as it can stand the heat, it should be fine!

Still out at Lake City?

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck

You can get it at the HD or Lowes. Yep, still at the Lake.

Good! I was worried about the recent cutbacks. I'll print you out a shipping label so you can stick it on a box for me!

Hell, I'll come pick it up! ;)

Well, we went to a bass tournament and Boppa had to bring the boat to my place so we could tow with Big Blue. So see, he really uses it!

Hooked up!

Nice sounding exhaust notes.
Good backing skills too.

Winnah! I tried like hell to get him to go with dark blue, but he would not be dissuaded. I told him if I had to paint it yellow, I was gonna put that on it.

Thanks! He says it has a lot of drone, I don't notice it. He got rid of the flowmasters for the same reason. I call it the "ski boat sound".

Boppa used to work construction. He gots mad skillz.

My advice is to get a set of resonators from Allen's they have an ebay store here's a link.

Instal them under the cab and that will take care of the drone entirely and a happy Boppa is a good thing.

Thanks for the tip, I'll run it by him. It's about ready for a new system anyway.

You don't have to touch the rest of the system, you just add them to the current one, the idea is they take the violent harmonic resonance out of the sound waves before it reaches the mufflers.

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck

I'm hip, the current system is 14 years old and growing some substantial crust. Some other threads on here are inspiring me to buy some ubends and have a whack at it. Thanks!

I almost forgot, you can also remove some of the "drone" noise by using good hangers with rubber bushings so there is no metal on metal action.

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck

Small update- Boppa had resonators put under the cab- $75 installed. He's thrilled, said they made a HUGE difference. He's been a busy little beaver, he pulled the exh. manifolds to replace a cracked one and blasted both of them and used POR Manifold gray on them. They look good! He's just glad his drone is gone. He also fixed the plug wire boots ( had 2 bad ones) and put the protector sleeves on them. Runs a lot better. Now to get it out here and drape it in exposed ground straps and try to get the damn radio to quiet down. We're actually planning on taking it to the Hartman Center cruise Sat. night. You know, what we built it for! Holler if you see it!

That's great, I knew those resonators would take the sass out of the old girl.
I'm just glad I could help Boppa out because there is nothing worse than that droning sound it single handedly takes the joy out of driving the truck.
