Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
Thanks Ryan, I got about 4 years out of that one, but the other is still running strong. I have dual 444C Viair's and dual 3 gallon tanks with the Porterbuilt brackets mounted in front of both rear tires.
The 444C's have thermal overload switches, which I have a suspicion that it went bad on this compressor. One day when I'm out of stuff to do, I'll open it up and see what I find. |
Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
I saw your truck at LST in person... your firewall work looked excellent! very nice work man. I really liked your headlights, what kind are they again?

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
I took my GTO to a local-ish car show this past Saturday. All of my friends who go to shows with me were otherwise occupied, so I convinced the wife to come along with me so I wouldn't be alone. She thought about it and decided it might be fun, so she agreed. But... The night before the show, I asked her if she wanted to drive the C/10 and enter it herself... She was happy about it, so we drove both vehicles to the show. Me in the GTO, here in the C/10.
This isn't something I get to see very often, so I had to snag a photo http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/..._52-croped.jpg http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...3_09_28_23.jpg Stopped for breakfast on the way. Here was our view... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...3_09_01_38.jpg And a couple pictures at the show http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...3_11_39_48.jpg http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...3_11_40_19.jpg The drips/spill was there before we parked... no the C/10 isn't leaking. |
Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
Totally cool that she went with you and wanted to drive the truck. Awesome pics, I'm loving this thing

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
Man its been awhile since I checked on your thread, or the board for that matter. I love those wheels! Truck looks great!
|
Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
That is a very sweet GTO! Very cool she went with you and took the truck too!
|
Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
Thanks guys. She had fun, which made it more fun for me. We switched and she drove the GTO home and I took the truck. This shot was taken as I was leaving the show.

Dang, Duane, looks like you're a YouTube star!!
I'm hoping when we bring CRLS down to Houston in May we can drop by Rosenberg and see your rides in person. We'll be staying in the Copperfield area. |

Just been putting miles on Brutus, enjoying the new engine/trans/rear gear. Took it to work a few times and had to snap a picture or two.

Your truck is beautiful.
Love the wheels and stance. But I can't help but think your fenders looks naked without some fender emblems. Maybe some cool Billet Badges from @radmachining. Check him out on Facebook or Instagram. This is just some of his amazing work,... |
Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
Thanks Keith, I've been following him on IG for a day. Just found him yesterday.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
I spend a half day on Friday cleaning the truck in preparation for a car show on Saturday. Here are the results of hours of washing and drying and a bit of polishing the chrome and aluminum bits. I didn't polish the wheels though, but they still look pretty darn good, if I do say so myself.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
I drove about 140 miles round trip to the Lone Star Deluxe car show in Texas City. Managed about 21 mpg too! :metal:

I took a few pictures a while back with a new camera I bought. I didn't play with the settings in the camera, but just let it do its thing on the auto settings, but I think these pictures came out pretty nice. Once I get a handle on this photography thing, I'll try and post some better pics. Sorry they're smaller, the "gallery" isn't working yet.
Attachment 1795094 Attachment 1795095 Attachment 1795096 I'll also upload them to my gallery once it's back up and running, so I can upload larger, better looking pictures. |
Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
So nice. Have you thought about tailgate/taillight trim?
|
Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
The truck has sure come a long way from your starting point.
BTW, what did you ever do with that long bed you bought from me a few years ago? |

Here are a few pictures I took at the Seawall in Galveston, after the C10Club took a cruise down there from Houston. Aaron (aboesec10) and I drove together to join the rest of the club, then cruised down to Galveston with a known 115 trucks (maybe more if they weren't counted). We ended up as the last two trucks in the pack coming into Galveston.
Right as we were getting onto the island, I had a malfunction with my fans, so I overheated. Well, I guess it happened before, but by that point my truck threw a CEL and my temp gauge was pegged. The ECM didn't like that so it started to run ROUGH. Thankfully I got it shut off and we rigged up a temporary hard wire to get us to a parts store just down the road. We got some wire, fuses and terminals and hard wired the fans to the battery to get me home. Had to stop at a gas station for water for our trucks, and us. He was a bit cautious at this point, thinking he might need a little extra for his too. We got to the seawall a bit late, so it's just our two trucks. The rest of the club left the lot about 5 minutes after we got there (only scheduled to be there for an hour anyway). Anyway, enough of story time, here are the pics: Attachment 1801144 Attachment 1801145 Attachment 1801146 Attachment 1801147 Attachment 1801148 (If they ever get the gallery working again, I'll upload bigger pictures). |
Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
Ah, the joys on on the road repairs. Glad you got it taken care of OK. The trucks look great as usual.
|
Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
The two trucks look great... almost like brothers. I've learned my lesson about carrying wire and fuses. Glad you made it home okay.
|
Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
My 2 favorite trucks on the board in the SAME pic?? How cool is that! I saw both of y'alls rides at LST a while back and loaded up my phone with pics, but these pics are AWESOME:metal::metal::metal: I now have a new desktop background photo. I hope someday next year to drive mine to Houston area to have all 3 of ours in the same pic. -Brian

[QUOTE=Thanks Brian. That means a lot. Any chance you'll be coming to LST next year?[/QUOTE]
I'll be there for sure. What a great show that was... Lord willing I will be driving MY 72 swb too :c2: Its going to be almost a triplet of yours and Aarons ride, but with white on the sides and roof and full upper and lower trim. I also have the chrome outer grill and standard inner grille but in chrome also. I cant wait to get rockin on it again. Just curious, do you guys know whos truck is quicker? You are running a gen 4 6.0 and he has a gen 5 5.3 correct? I have the same setup as Aaron with a 4:11 gear in a 6L80e. |
