The Front bumper was a Craigslist find (classified ads)- pulled off another 1971 GMC pickup. Its a WARN aftermarket bumper but I fabbed on it a bit to add the D-rings and skid plate - they punch through to the frame with 4x4x1/4" angle iron. The farmer said he had it dealer installed or maybe he did the install himself back right after he bought the truck because he was using it getting firewood and he pulled down trees off banks with it... It was a lucky find - got it for 100 bucks I think, sanded it down, primer'd and rhino lined it. Has the same angle as my grill and fits like a glove |
Re: How about some pics of your 4x4
hmmm looks like if you find some bumpercorners that look like the ones that are on there you should be able to make sumtin simulair , the rest is all straight metal maibe a 50s 60s big truck would have a bumper that can be modified that way

Re: How about some pics of your 4x4
Here's mine, I bought it November 09 and spent all last winter tearing it apart, sanding it down to bare steel and removing 5 gallons of Bondo out of dents that were easy to pound out. It's a 72 GMC with a rebuilt 350/350 trans. I replaced both bumpers, glass, complete interior, all the weatherstripping, etc. Replaced the distributor with HEI (thanks dave!) I am very pleased with how it turned out, it feels nice to drive something 38 years old that is just as nice (if not better) as it was when it was new. I honestly wouldnt trade it for a brand new one!
This is the first paint job I ever did and the first body work as well, I had to learn a lot along the way but it was well worth the effort. I am going to repaint my 69 C10 next winter. Anyway here are a few pics. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...edtruck018.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...edtruck012.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...edtruck067.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...edtruck050.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...edtruck056.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...edtruck065.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...edtruck010.jpg |

Recently acquired this '68 K-10...
http://images12.fotki.com/v253/photo...epside5-vi.jpg
It's a '68 with a 90's 350, granny 4speed, 205 case and 3.73 12 bolt rear, not sure about the front axle yet. Plan on converting it to a Turbo350 auto, and power disc brakes on front. http://images17.fotki.com/v326/photo...pside16-vi.jpg ...it was "customized/restored" by Cracker Customs some time in the past....they did a "Cracker" of a job on it, too. Anyways, I'll be hitting you guys up for knowledge on parts real soon ! Steve http://images19.fotki.com/v678/photo...epside4-vi.jpg http://images17.fotki.com/v326/photo...pside14-vi.jpg |
