Headers look nice and cozy in there. I wonder if you'll notice a sound difference. I guess you were able to get it done in one day.

Not sure on the sound as I have never heard it prior but I would say it would definitely change the tone some. It is actually supposed to help the flow become faster also. Yes, it took us about 4 hours to complete that included un-mounting , wrapping and bolting the headers and pipes back on. I would say you definitely do not want to try to tackle this without an extra hand.

I would not even know where to begin, I have not even kept track as I knew it is not cheap.

Thanks, the long haul is getting closer to the end. Time to get back at it here soon though I have not had a chance to work on it much lately :chevy:

Finally was able to get to the truck shop today and with the help of cknfrmr was able to get the cab bolted on radiator support and filler, inner fenders and right fender. Finally starting to come together.

Well, today is another day, going to try to get the steering column mounted in and the other fender along with the master cylinder so then the brake lines can be tied in. Can also get the grill mounted if I can scrounge up enough bolts at the local Lowes hardware store. I am almost to the wiring point :smoke: Please pray for a miracle on my wiring skills :lol:

What's your plan on the wiring? I like the painless 16 circuit harnesses.

I also have a painless 16 circuit harness, it will be located in the glove box area. When you open the glove door you will see the 2 computer controls for the fuel injection and transmission and the fuse panel. I am trying to keep the engine compartment as clean as possible, the battery is located under the bed just behind the cab. :chevy:

Sounds a lot like mine. The tool aid crimpers do an awesome job on packard 56 terminals.

Had a pretty productive day today at the truck shop, thanks to chknfrmr, got the rear glass in, steering column mounted and steering shaft installed, master cylinder bolted in, grill assembled and bolted in, front caliper bolted on drivers side, drivers fender mounted, front bumper mounted and set the hood on to check alignment. Planning to try and finish the doors up this week so they can be mounted. :mm::chevy:

I still cant believe last weekend it was a frame with a motor n transmission on it. Its really coming together quickly. The countless hours that you spent getting it to just perfect really paid off. Its truly a one of a kind truck. Seeing it in person and how everything ties in and together is amazing. Glad I am able to give you a hand and hang out. Its a great way unwind and learn a bunch about restoration of these beauties.

It is hard to believe it is actually going together. I am working on the tach cluster piecing it together. Time to get the doors finished up nd hung and get all the glass in this ride. Get rhe brake fluid topped off and bled out and check for any lleaks

Lookin' great! Question about installing the doors. Do you already have them lined up from mock up and now you just have to bolt them on, or do they still need to be aligned? I ask because my doors need to be realigned and I can't see any way to get to the alignment bolts I need without taking the front fenders off.

I have already fitted them previously so I already know how they line up. It is possible just not real easy, it is what they refer to as getting the cart before the horse. :smoke:

Unfortunately, to do it right, you'll want to start of with rebuilding your hinges, which if I'm remember right means taking the fenders off... I can't remember if you can squeeze a wrench in there or not to get all the bolts??

Actually, take your doors off using the hinge pins, make sure you get them both loose before pulling them fully out, install new bushings and pins and maybe your doors will "line up" again.

I literally spent an entire weekend on door/fender/hood alignment on my truck.

Thanks for the tips. When I get bored enough I will probably pull the fenders off and see what I can do from there. I suppose I should rebuild the hinges too. 67ChevyRedneck, those are some straight body lines, nice work!

Fender and door alignment is definitely not a fun thing, it can and usually is very tedious and time consuming and takes a lot of patience. My hinges are definitely rebuilt, to much money in this ride to skimp now :lol: especially over a few dollars. All new latches, rods and window tracks, with manual windows they need to roll up and down smoothly for me. :chevy:

I think this is the first time my build has been on the second page in a long while. :lol: I will be working on it Sunday morning but an update is that I received my visors, door panels and arm rests and dash pad from grumpyolman this week, I have to say these things rock :metal: better than planned. I had my stuff covered with old army canvas. Grumpy said he loves to stretch canvas and is finishing up my bench hopefully with in the next couple weeks :5150:

You have no idea how many times that material has come close to being fire tested in my fire pit ! :devil: BUT , I think you made a good call with it .It matches your build pretty good and should last forever . Wait until you see what surprises I have coming to you with your seat , That's if it doesn't wear me out before I'm done .:lol:

Did some work on the project 68 today, a sneak peak at Grumpy's favorite project of 2017 :mm:
Gotthe dash pad and visors and floor mat door seals and sill plates installed today. Starting to look like a truck finally. 😊

I hear ya. Its about time for me to cover mine up for the winter. I already don't have a building and my Dad broke his wrist so I'm gonna have to get the leaves up and haul all the wood n stuff up to the house for him for next few months.

The dash pad looks great! When do we get to see the seat?!

Question about your rear drop. You said you had 6” springs correct? How much space do you have between the rear and frame before you bottom out? Im trying to figure out if I want 5 or 6 inch springs but I dont have a good reference to go off of because my rear springs were heated.

Good afternoon Corey, sorry life has some things come into event that was very unplanned and interfered with any projects including project 68, anyway the seat is near completion and ready to come home from Knoxville. I will check that number as soon as I can but I know it is not much, seems like from memory it was 2-3 inches. and I have the 6" drop springs. Here is an ebay link I actually bought mine through summit.
