Yeah, I’ve seen that behind an all chrome dash. Looks excellent and very practical too. I don’t have a clue about the price of an all chrome set of dash grills. But if affordable, looks great!

Nice score on the hitch Marc. Cleaning up the dash does look nice.

Thanks, I can't imagine you will have trouble selling it. Yours is very sweet and the demand seems to be very high for them.

Well I figured it was time to update my thread with the little progress that I've made.

These pictures cover removing the body from the frame one last time. The idea is I will disassemble the frame and get it ready for paint. I also want to take the body and get the inside and door jams sandblasted. I plan the leave the outside as is for now.

I also finished my hidden hitch. I started with a hitch that was too narrow with huge mounting plates because it was a class 4 hitch. I chopped off the mounting plates. Then I picked up some 2 1/2 square tube to slide into the original hitch to make it the desired width that I needed. I then made some mounting tabs. The last step was to make a receiver/license plate mount. I wanted it to follow the curve of the rear bumper to flow a little better.

Here are a bunch of pictures....

Hey Marc, this neat headlight modification showed up on another thread belonging to Tikal48. Very similar to what Mark did to mine. Thought you might want to see it. Here's the link http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...83#post8270683 and it's post number is 292...Jim

Good looking out Jim. I just thought about that headlight mod the other day when I was driving my 48 at night (which I normally don't do). My lights are not adjusted good at all.

Thank you
Marc

Sadly no real updates to post. I was fired from my job in June and off work for 5 months, not to mention the old company I worked for also screwed me out of commission money, so there was really no funds for the Burb. I did start a new (more stable) job in November and look to get back at the Burb. I bought the frame paint and I made arrangements with my buddy at his Hotrod shop to spray my frame in the coming weeks. I did manage to get the frame lightly body worked and ready to paint. I will show some pics of that progress once the time comes.

I think we both know that I'm racing towards 3rd.

Just build trucks for a living! hope things work out for you. I am self employed and let me tell you I know all about having no funds for the build. But, God is great and trials are necessary.

Sucks about your job I've been there before and it really sucks..

On a lighter note: Really cool project I love the burbs of this era. Its one near me just sitting in a guy's backyard and he will not sell, its a good thing because I don't need another project. Nice build man.

I'm back on the 53....I have been busy selling parts from the LS motor that I didn't need to build some cash up. I have been working on getting my frame painted. Other than a few pieces that will be an accent color, I have the frame 90% painted. I went with a satin finish single stage urethane paint my friends that own the hotrod shop use on all of their builds. I like how it turned out. I have a few accent colors in mind for some of the other parts like the control and trailing arms.

Looking forward to some real progress over the summer.

Marc

Doug seems to be busy picking mushrooms these days! There must be a few "special" shrooms in the harvest that he's relaxing with instead of finishing the burb! Ha!;)
