The argument comes down to live and let live. It's cool to see someone carry out a vision and have it turn out nicely, no matter what it is. The problem I have is with the flood of followers riding the wake of the truly creative with all their monkey see monkey do. And if these trucks were no good for anything else it would be different. These trucks are still great at what they do or not far from it. One that needs a whole heap of work would be a true challenge on parts alone. All I can say is there's nothing like a labor of love stock restoration that looks like it's straight out of a brochure. That is a bigger challenge that fabbing a hot rod.

Fine examples of some nice originals.

Here is the article, sorry, tried to take whole page, but too small to read.

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Well, that explains those trucks. Unusual, because GMC was generally not known for building small numbers of 'special' trucks (International and Dodge were). I believe Inland Steel was a supplier to GM back in those days, perhaps that had something to do with those trucks being built.
Thanks very much for posting. |

This might help figuring out GMC model codes.

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Great chart.
And sure enough, there is my old truck, JE-9500 with a V-8 Gas. I also see now that my old 7500 was an HG. Never knew that. (V-6 Toro Flow). Although it got changed over to a 6V-53 before I bought it. Would be interesting to see the MH charts. |
Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Very cool charts... Do you have anymore of these? I don't see my truck on there.

Nice truck.
A good money maker to boot. |
Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
I'd like to have a dedicated plow truck. Get it all right, set-up, and keep it nice, just for that use... nearby. Take it out to a local show or two, keep in machine shed.

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
I've driven past this a couple of times & finally remembered to get a shot of it. There isn't any for sale sign on it & I haven't gone up the driveway to see if it is for sale. GMC 450 of unknown year.

That's a handy size. Looks like it would restore up nicely
I found this one that had already been sold I really like. Clean |
Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!

A '67 Model. |

Yeah, '67 and it has new wheels. I like the size. Can you tell if that's a 40? I've been wanting a 1t dump for a coon's age but a C/40 I would much rather have
Not sure how I feel about this. Pretty neat for an RV hauler I guess |
Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
The picture of the Emblem is a little too hard to see, but it should be either a 40 or 50.
That ex-Firetruck is either a '68 or '69 and either a 5500 or 6500 with a non-original front bumper. It's in real nice shape anyway. |

I suspect it is set down on a C30 chassis, little big rig style. I still like it better than a C30. Imagine that ride movin' on down the line hauling a 5th whl
Looks like I saved pictures of both sides of that, I'm gonna say, C/40 dump. I think it is because of the bed being a contractor dump, same thing you'd put on a 1t. That's what I like. Loads real good with a skid loader |
Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
^^Man I think thats a set of original Accuride's too! I'm really jealous... :D

I'd like that with a diesel in it. I'd drive that thing to church!

Here are some pics of a GMC V Six grain truck I took at the local junkyard back in 2011 I like how the tach was an afterthought of sorts as it's not flush with the dash

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Another '68 or '69 7500. Looks like it has a 5 and 2. Must be a light duty 7500 as it has just a Standard Dash and Hydraulic Brakes.
