The shift indicator should move freely, but down at the base where the turn signal is I don't think it should. Maybe test it by taping the column so it won't move like it is hooked to linkage. Is everything tight on the column outside the firewall?

lol, ya, he just got the truck and wanted to run something over...bastard.

im assuming everything is tight inside the column, i put everything back the same way it came out. steering wheel bolt is fully tightened, everything under the hood is tightened... the base is the only thing that moves, its buggin the hell out of me!

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

not a whole lot of anything goin on..

i did pull out all of the airbag wiring, the gauges, gauge airline. i re-routed the gauge line, put new wiring (trailer wiring), made some nifty weatherpack connectors for the valves, pulled all of the metal clamps that touched any airline and put rubber insulated clamps, then ran the wiring and gauge airline through the rear floor. also re-grounded all of the valves to a ground strip, cleaned up all the connectors and put some dielectric grease. also changed out the pressure switch wire with some that is designed to be in weather (other wire i had was crap). then wire loomed almost all of it...

going to wire up the compressor switch today and get the gauges back in today. i moved all of it so that the wiring wont go through the firewall. its going under the carpet, under the front seats, and come out through a custom console that i will build later.

been working on all the under hood wiring also, just waiting on getting the driver fender back on so i can finalize the routing of the main under hood wiring. will be buying everything else under the hood this week to get this thing running hopefully. might even start on the tubs and rear wood for the floor i am going to build..

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

tryin man! once again, deadline is for march/april for texmex, if not, then def by next june for showdown. (thats been the deadline for last 3 years lol)

once i get some new manifolds or headers, im gonnga try to fire this thing up. pulled my gas tank out today, gonna clean the crap out of it, make some spacers to raise it up some, then put it back in.

to fire up i need: headers/manifolds, battery, oil, filter, trans fluid, coolant, u joints for drive shaft, and carrier bearier mount. this should be enough to fire up and DRIVE it out of the garage and maybe around the block (pending no problems!)

lol..one day...soon......hopefully......

i got the driveshaft pulled, put all new u-joints and carrier bearing, that will be going back in today. pulled the gas tank, cleaned up the top end and flipped it over..

theres a patched hole.....i filled it up with water to see if it leaks and sure enough, it does. sucks..

im wondering what all the bagged burban guys are doing for tank swaps. i pulled this one to clean up, paint, then raise it since it hit the ground. im looking for the most simpliest, cheapest route for a tank! (maybe even fix this one...?)

Check with Eastwood, they have a really good sealer for gas tanks. We used it on Ronnie's Cutlass and it worked perfectly.

just read thru your build. Nice work ! por 15 would work great on that frame, and it likes to go on top of rust.

well, i did, then went way back.

i finally got the motor in position to fire..sort of. i got the tank cleaned up, raised and painted (gonna have to make a new filler hole). i got everything for the motor to crank, was trying to set TDC to stab the distributor..so i go to rotate the motor and just before a full turn it stopped on me. went to turn it back the other way and again..just before full turn it stops again. i posted a thread in the engine section and from the advise i got from there...its gonna have to be pulled it replaced or worked on. sucks big time...

for now im gonna get the seats mounted, and get the whole truck back together for body work. i did get some grant hinges so i can work on getting the hood on, also an EDC for the air ride, some struts for the liftgate mod..the rest was pretty much blown on the stuff for motor...which is useless for now.

i may just pull all of my new stuff off the motor and sell the block and heads and look for something else..i got a $1600-1800 quote for a rebuild..and thats nowhere near my budget for now.

Man that sucks. If you need a hand let me know. I can pull a sbc apart and get it back together in a weekend as long as theres no machining involved.

thanks..thats what im afraid of.

i think machine shops usually charge about 300 im guessing to hot tank it and clean it up..?

ive seen rebuild kits for about 250-400 bucks i think..then labor to put it back in. i wouldnt even know where to start buying stuff for a rebuild though!

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

I've had a lot of good luck with kits from summit. But you need to have all the info on the motor first as far as bore and crank bore. They do run about 400 for a basic one. Like I said I have a huge shop that's full of tools so if you want to have menhell you check everything out to see if it's even worth fixing let me know and well tear it down

That sucks about the motor. But look at the bright side.... you can now clean up and paint the front end and frame before a new motor goes back in ;)
