You just need some bbq lol. I put one wheel on the rear today and looked at it for awhile. Then came back inside. :)

I got started on the step notch. I still have a lot of welding to do but it is at least together.

did you buy that notch? looks good

Re: AD Truck Project

It is made by welders series. It is lazer cut and you just bend the 90s and then weld it up. Then once it place it has some other plates to finish up boxing the inside of it.

Nice work Billy, Thats a pretty cool notch. I did a similar one on an S10 years ago came in 4 pieces and you bend them at the slots and weld away. Never heard of welders series so I looked them up. They do have some cool products. So this will be ready by spring right?:smoke:

Man, we're working the same pace on getting these 52's back on the road. Bought mine 2(?) years ago and have made really slow progress as well. So slow that I'm beginning to wonder if it will see the road before 2015. I'm in the same boat as far as the financing part goes, but now I've got an 85 GMC 3/4 ton to fetch parts in. That is, when I'm not fetching parts for it, that is.....

I got the passenger side step notch trimmed and tacked in a couple weekends ago. I did not get anything done last weekend. The frame sure does have all kinds of angles to it at the back. Between the natural kickup and the fact the frame gets wider from front to rear it makes things interesting. I guess the plan is that once the driverside is mounted and everything is welded in solid, I will bridge the notches with some pipe. Later down the road the frame will get some additional boxing.

I have had some slows downs, mostly due to being lazy. Now that I have the proper length shocks on the back of my crew cab and the mounts are reinforced I can think more about the old truck. F18delta do you have a build thread?

Re: AD Truck Project

I keep meaning to start one, but when I get home and on this site, there are pictures and links that work there that don't when I'm at work. So I get distracted rather eas....SQUIRREL!!!

Looks pretty good Billy, Isn't it amazing how un-straight and un-parallel the upper and lower flanges of the frame are. I did a step notch on an S10 and there wasn't anything straight back there. Lots of measuring and head scratching.

You check in on the Oklahoma section lately? looks like a big get together is in the works. Hope to see you there.

Re: AD Truck Project

Thanks. I have a tad more done than the pics but not much. Ive gotta wait till next payday to get some metal. By then I may have a relative in town for a day or two and con him into helping me button up a good portion of the rear suspension.

I have not looked in the OK section in awhile. I will check it out.

Re: AD Truck Project

I bought some metal about a month ago to bridge my notch. That is about it. I really need to get back on it again.

Re: AD Truck Project

I purchased a 4 port 7 gallon air tank from Ekstensive last week. That is about the only update I have. Awhile back I started on my upper bars on the 4link but have not finished them. I am hoping to get the fire under my rear to work on it again this winter.

Re: AD Truck Project

No new pics... unless you want to see the damage after I hit a deer with my crew cab a few weeks ago.

It is just about back driveable. I still need a grill. But I am considering upgrading to the 06 grill and hood while I am at it. We will see.

I am trying to get back in the mood to work on the gmc. The last I worked on it I had all the 4 link bars tacked in and as well the lower bag mounts. I had purchased metal to bridge the notches and mount the upper bag mount to. I need to purchase my air management parts and I think Accuair may be in my near future.
