Ok, I have to ask now, are you running power windows? I dont remember that in the build. but I dont see a provision for the window crank handle.
On the jute mine came with it already glued to the carpet

Yes I do have power windows. There was a little mix up with the switches, Jeff put in the claissic small chrome switches and I wanted something a little more modern.

I'm not sure if I can glue it to the bottom of the carpet, because the carpet has a thick rubbery bottom on it. But maybe I'll give a corner or a bit in the middle a try.

The booster is an aftermarket 7 inch dual diaphram ( nothing special) you can probably get it anywhere, I picked my up at a swap meet in Pleasanton Ca. The master cyclinder i bought from CCP.

I had a question. Where did you get the front bowtie emblem? I haven't looked hard yet, but it the LMC catalog, the bowtie for 67-68 is blue.

You probably wont believe me, but it is an original OEM emblem, that I was going to throw away. But decided that I would hit it with some glass media in my media cabinet, which kind of gave it a brushed or raw look. Then I grabbed a rattle can of high heat clear and sprayed a couple of coats on it. I really liked the way it turned out so I decided to put it on the truck.

I was having some issues with getting the repop bumper to line up correctly, side to side. Someone suggested using a OEM bumper. SO, Yesterday I picked up an original bumper and test fitted it. WOW what a difference. It fits much better side to side, close to spot on. I'll need to adjust a little with the up and down. it is higher on one side and sticks out further on the other. It has alot of surface rust, so I will have to have it re-chromed. Im happier with it than the reproduction bumper. I realize that haveing it re-chromed will cost twice a much as the repop, but it will be worth it.

I ordered some screws for the front underside of my dash pad. As soon as I got them I knew they would not work. The screws size is not large enough. I don't mean lenght, the are not thick enough.

Were there different sizes for different years? Or am I missing something?

I went to the hardware store yesterday. They did not have any of the clips for a #6 screw, the smallest they had was for a #10. So I got 4 clips and 4 screws. They both worked out perfect.

Lately I've been doing some work on my door panels. I didn't want to rush them, so it has been slow and methodical work. They are not just a one piece unit that fits into the stock location. If I wanted to do that I would not have taken the time to make my own.

They are actually three pieces. The main door panel, the speaker and map pocket pod, and arm rest.

First I used a large piece of butcher paper covered the inner door and marked all the stock opening and determined where I was going to put the door panel clips to hold the panels in place. Then I cut two main door panels out of ¼ inch MDF, stapled them together and sanded the edges so they were identical. Then I place the paper template over the two pieces, marked and drilled the holes for the door panel clips.

I separated the pieces of MDF and mocked them up on the door. I transferred the holes from the panels onto the door then drilled the holes on the inner doors. It took me a little while to figure how to get the door panel clips to work and fit the door panel, but I think I got it dialed in. I tested in on a scrape piece of metal and it work nicely. The MDF could be removed from the sheet metal without damaging the MDF.

I repeated the same steps when I made the speaker and map pocket pods. Except I added T-Nuts to the speaker/map pods so that the door panel and speaker/map pod could be easily separated. You may wonder why all the trouble with different pieces, Well I plan on covering these two pieces with vinyl. So to get the vinyl to fit properly I needed to made separate pieces. I may even use different colors of vinyl for the two pieces.

I had previously cut the speaker rings and determined what length dowels I would need to face the speaker in the proper direction. I used hot glue to attach the speaker rings and dowels to the MDF.

I mixed up some fiberglass resin and cut up some fiber glass matt. I covered the T-Nuts with glass and then covered the top side of the MDF with resin. I only had twenty minutes to complete this process before the resin set up. As I started the main door panels I noticed that the resin looked like jello. So I put a quick coat on them and used a scrapper to remove most of the chunks. I missed a few spots that I will have to sand tomorrow, they won’t matter much because you won’t see them once it is covered with vinyl.

I still have to attach the boxes for the crossovers and then I’m going to try to stretch some cloth over them. Cover with resin and a few layers of fiberglass.

I’m still working on the arm rests which will be longer then the OEM arm rest. I plan on using the same points for attachment, but I’m working on how to cover, but still use the inner door handle. The arm rests will also include the power window switches.

This was the first time I have ever used resin and fiberglass. I think I putt a little to much resin around the T-Nuts, but it looks like it set up nicely. Now I have a better idea of how it works for the next step.

nice work... i am doing my first fiberglass speaker enclosure and kick panels right now !! it is pretty fun, sanding some of my lumps down tonight then going to put another layer of fiberglass cloth and resin down !!

The larger speaker ring if for the MIDs and small one if for s Tweeter, referred to as a Component speaker. WIth them came a crossover that will seperate the mid and highs before they are sent to the speaker.

I hope that is what you were referring to.

thanks, but nope! I am curious about the whole thing. after you finish the poly and glasfibre and stuff...the end result.

For best sound you'd want your tweeters to be at least at dash level...

Here's how I mounted mine...stil a little too low though...but sounds great....

I was originally going to put the tweeter on the windshield post, but I did some research on another forum, that deals with car audio, and even posted a thread asking about the distance a tweeter can be from the mid speaker, most replied that it was better to keep the tweeter near the mid.

Today I wrapped the speaker pods, one of them collapsed right after I finished wrapping it, so I had tear off the cloth and redo it. It took a little longer then expected, but I’m happy with the result. I was hoping to throw down some resin and glass but will have to save that for my next weekend.
