I have a power steering pump on the way and a new master cylinder on order. Waiting for bmerdoc to have time to break down the steering linkage and bring that back over and we'll get that installed and then it'll be time to get the front clip on and get it running!

Bmerdoc might be able to come over tues night to help. I got the ps pump cleaned up, primed, painted, and cleared tonight.

Will not be able to work on it tomorrow (Church and Mothers' day) but hope to have a few hours Monday evening. If I do, the plan is to get the tranny and engine all wired/plumbed up so that after we get the new steering link on and the brakes bled we can get the front clip on.

Thanks guys, yes....the job keeps me away from home almost half the month (sometimes more) but is providing for my family....and when I'm in town, I work from home and my kids are homeschooled by their mother so we end up with more family time than most with a 9-5 job and a commute do. They also come on some of the trips with me when I will be in an area for a few days and they can stay at the hotel during the day.

After I get this project and project #1 finished, I will actually enjoy the job more. Then I will be able to react to craigslist deals all over since I cover most of va and wv...I'm also close to nc, tn, ky, md, and ohio....I've found great nos parts and a full dropmember off craigslist cheap before....once I'm caught up I will flip the higher end parts still and find parts for my next project.....

My fleet will hopefully one day include:
Shop/trash/yard truck (67 c10 likely with patina similar to this but lwb for hauling)
Suburban or crew cab daily driver with an ls motor
Blazer (roadster) for fun

New to me power steering pump and pulley primed painted, and cleared with engine paint to match the other accessories.

Picked up a new (not reman) master today as well as the belt for the power steering so I should have almost everything to finish it up.

After a quick trip to walmart for groceries/supplies for my pregnant wife I will be out in the garage under the truck for a while. Definitely going to need to jack it up to get under now :)

yep...I'm going to have to come up with a way to seat 6:mm: I'm thinking three sets of buckets mounted to the floor/notch in the back...if/when I build one it's going to be slammed ;)

got the master cylinder bench bled and then hooked it up to gravity bleed but can't get to the driver's side bleeder to loosen it no matter what I try...bmerdoc's going to bring a thin walled socket over.

well...Bmerdoc came over and we worked for three hours....and got the power steering pump loosely mounted :lol:

Man these brakes are driving us NUTS! I'm going to HF tomorrow and buying one of the brake bleeder kits tomorrow or Thursday night. Nick worked hard and I pumped the pedal and checked the fluid level about 5,847 times...and we barely got a drip out of the back and front junction blocks....

Wasted about an hour trying to get it to work and it didn't bench bleed properly...we found out one of the fittings I used was letting a little air in...so we ended up re-bench bleeding it. Got that done and then went fitting by fitting from the top to the bottom trying to get fluid to come out....we know it's getting to the junction blocks and we've gotten a few spits out of the front bleeder screws but not much more than that. So I'm getting the power bleeder kit.

I have to get longer screws to mount the extra pulley for the power steering. And the correct hose for it also. I thought I had a new hose but forgot it was for a big block setup. frustrating evening but really appreciate Nick (Bmerdoc) and all his help.

He's possibly going to come over Sunday afternoon. I have a lot of small things I'm going to try to do between now and then. Hope we can get the brakes finished finally and then get the front clip on! :chevy:

Had to get a longer bolt for the balancer and the lower pulley add-on. Got those and mounted up the power steering pump. Got the belt on and all tightened up.

Checked the brakes after a night with the rear junction opened up and no fluid level drop and nothing at the junction. I will check again when I get home this evening. Going to get a vacuum bleeder kit tomorrow evening or Saturday.

Also got the fuel system buttoned up with a new filter and a short section of fuel injection fuel line (so it will hold up better to modern fuel)

I'm doing some brake work as well. I was talking to a co-worker about bleeding brakes yesterday (he was a mechanic back when drum brakes were more common) and he reminded me that the brake shoes need to be adjusted correctly when bleeding brakes. If the shoes are not touching the drum when the pedal is depressed, it may not be possible to build enough pressure in the line to bleed them. This advice is likely too little, too late since you are getting a vacuum pump, but it might be something to think about in the future.

Thanks for throwing that out there and good reminder for the future! ...I guess that could be the case but these brakes are the ones that came off my daily driver 70 and they were just rebuilt within the last 100 miles and seem good...the pump hopefully will solve the issue. Just a lot of air in the lines...

The might vac helped but brakes still gave us a lot of trouble...and a constant rain kept us in the garage yesterday. FINALLY got the front brakes almost fully bled. Few small bubbles but it'll do for now. Bmerdoc has graciously offered for me to bring the truck up to his shop and put it up on a lift, inspect everything, snug everything up with air tools, and do a final safety inspection before the first shakedown cruise. I'll have it dropped off on a flat bed. Rear brakes are showing air still after a lot of time messing with them but they are getting there too... I started putting the front shocks on and just need to get it out of the garage so I can get under the truck to tighten up the front studs. I am out of town all week...hoping to get the front clip on and a lot accomplished this coming Saturday.
