Re: Project Platinum C10
Just read the entire build. Very thoughtful build that turned out amazingly! Killer truck. Love the subtle, personal touches.

Hey guys, hadn't posted here in a long time.
My inline 6 finally decided to crap out on me so I took a 350 that I purchased from SeTx67 here on the forum and dropped it in. I hadn't got a chance to finish it up as I got real busy at work and hadn't had the time to button it up. Hoping to have it done here in a few weeks if I could get a day off!! When I purchased the engine I bought the 700R4 transmission also but decided to stick with the manual 4 speed that is original with the truck. I like driving the 4 speed. Not planning nothing special under the hood except what you see for now. Just gonna do some dual exhaust out the back and drive the heck out of it. I have another project that I am ready to start on so I can't dump to much more money into this one. |
Re: Project Platinum C10
I'm not sure which I'm diggin more - the V8 swap or Lumberton Funeral Home's sale on a traditional service complete w/20 gauge non-gasketed steel casket.

Re: Project Platinum C10
Short video of the engine running. Still need to add exhaust so this is straight headers with about a foot of pipe and no mufflers. Planning turn downs by the axles.

Re: Project Platinum C10
Hey guys, it's been awhile since I last posted here. The 350 I swapped over a while back decided to tank out so now I've decided to go with a 5.3L LS swap. I was able to find a wrecked 2007 Silverado and was able to get the engine, transmission, harness, computer, etc.. for my swap. I won't be doing the work myself so I'm getting a buddy of mine to do it for me. He does great work though so I'm excited to see the end product.
The plan: Shave the firewall, paint the firewall, paint the frame rails, install the LS engine, install vintage air and fix the wobbly steering column. I'll update some pics as it goes along. |

Donor vehicle and parts, I've decided to keep the engine stock except the addition of headers. I have a special touch that I plan to add using that valve cover though so stay tuned.

The front end has been removed and the engine is out. The frame rails are being cleaned and getting ready for paint. Tejas Steelworks engine mounts are here as well.

Thanks guys, I did the same thing to my Chevelle project so I thought I'd do the truck firewall to match!! :metal:

Re: Project Platinum C10
A lot of nice work on your truck. Looks great and will be quick with the new drivetrain. Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Engine is set in the truck and the trans cross member will begin fabrication today. Modern Vintage harness is in the process of building me a plug and play harness that should be completed in a week or two. The driveshaft will be measured and built soon. Updates to come!!

Re: Project Platinum C10
This is going to be a big level up to an already nice truck.

I hear you are thinking of doing a few minor touches to your black truck. What's the plans on it? |
