Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Bought myself another set of wheels for my '64 short bed step side today. Original 16" wheels and hubcaps with just the right amount of Patina to match my truck. They need tyres as the old cross-plys are well passed their best.
What size modern tyres are you guys running on these wheels on your trucks? http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/r...8/IMG_0929.jpg http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/r...8/IMG_0930.jpg Picking them up this weekend - can't wait! |

I did not actually do anything, but I got home from a business trip and received a package from TBONE1964, a member here who has a business called Classic Gauge and Cluster (support@classicgaugeandcluster.com). Wish the rest of my 62 looked this good.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Not actually to the truck, but went and picked up a 350 short block ,4 bolt main bored 40 over that only had 10,000 miles on the rebuild. Pro put a solid lift can in it and didn't know how to adjust properly and ruined the cam. Of course it will go to the machine shop for cleaning and checked thoroughly, honed, cam bearings, freeze plugs and back with new rings and bearings. At least I found a good foundation.

Old trucks are harder to find than girlfriends . . . . You will cry less if your girlfriend leaves you than if you have to say goodbye to your old truck . . . . The list goes on and on . . . I'll let some of the other members post why trucks are better than girlfriends. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Old trucks want cheat on ya but they sure will make you spend your money.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Actually when I work on a friend's truck my truck does complain......gives me quite an attitude to. Heck, When I was working on my 66 and needed crustine to move some parts she broke down! Quit working on my 66 and gave crustine some attention and then she ran fine again. lol Then today she decided to act up again...."More food" she cried, so I fed her more(turned out the jets another turn and a 1/4! LOL!) Well she's never ran better! haha! Needs a good carb kit though...the accelerator pump is shot and the carb if filled with cats and dogs no doubt. lol Good ol :gmc2:

You put a sticker on the air cleaner? Busy day.

Looks good TJ. I got the shocks off mine and wd40,d rear coil spring ,trailing arm and track bar bolts. Got the driveshaft out, clutch line loose, oil pressure line off. Two bolts and trans linkages all that's left to get the engine out. That and a hoist.lol

Yesterday I removed a cab from another truck that was being broken in the UK and today I did a 375 mile round trip to collect a set of wheels I won on evil bay
One of the few times you will see a Ford towing a Chevy http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psc9silzeo.jpg My eBay win http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psmbyjimea.jpg In the car on the way home http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps9uynacyu.jpg That was one very busy weekend |

Those are very nice wheels indeed, and a good price too. Be careful about the offset/backspacing. My guess is they are 10" wide wheels. I have found for a 15" wheel, that 3.75" of backspacing is good and 4" might rub the outer tie rod. It is very close. Also be careful that your lugs are long enough. You should get at least 1/2" of lug threads into the lug nut. Congratulations on getting a nice cab too. Quote:
I'm looking at your brake booster in the photo. It looks bent. Maybe twisted? What's up with the brake booster? It looks damaged. |
