Haha- no, I can't. It pains me to look at your avatar :whine: I only have to think about what I used the proceeds for to remind me that it was the right decision to sell--and you can always get more toys...

PMing you on those

Thanks! The CPP and McGaughys kits are good for the money and I'm not sure I saved much by doing them this way, but I can say they are custom

if you dont want a project that 2WD from NY looks pretty good, have you talked to him yet. There is always Phattony's up here, its beautiful and very well done with some very unique touches.

Good luck with the search..

Maaaaan, timing is just so bad for Louise right now. Wish I could get her back from you and put her in storage for a while. Just not in the cards right now...

I am talking to Charlie about that blue 6-cyl. I'll check out phat Tony's, but I think he may be out of my price range.

I've had that thought, too. Hard to find an affordable pinion option. Who makes those you posted? What's the cost like? I can upgrade to the Eldo calipers for a couple hun.

That unit from TSM is what I have, and am going to run.

Just a word of caution, I'm pretty sure it doesn't meet the DOT requirements for an "emergency brake"....

Really? I thought most shops tested it by putting the vehicle in D, and the e-brake had to at least hold it in place w/o rolling.

You might be right, I really don't know for sure. It just seems like I came across something in my readings about it. I figured I would take my chances.

What's the deal w/deciding against the forward arms?

gringoloco 12-14-2012 10:51 AM

Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good C10

Nothing against the arms- I needed to liquidate for another hobby and they were an easy sale. I will probably do the caster mod at some point. Play time/money is all focused on a Blazer right now. My wife is on board (even suggested it), so I'm striking while the iron is hot :)

Here's what the forward arm money was spent on--it's a BMX style 29er, "The Big Ripper". Saw it and had to have it--I'm an old BMXer from way back who used to ride a PKRipper and this thing makes me feel like a 6'6" kid again :D

Thanks! Not sure I'm ready to race again, but it sure is fun jumping curbs and bunny-hopping puddles!

I raced a Hutch 20", too, back when everyone was using cro-mo, it was all aluminum. It was under 10lbs total race weight...

Thanks! Thinking of putting a set of these on it, just for nostalgia, but I'd have to sell more truck parts

They're about $200, so not too bad, but yeah, all play money for a while will be going towards a Blazer. May be liquidating some other assets to support that, too, but it will be worth it. Like you guys said, gotta get while the gettin's good!

Dude, that vid was awesome. No way I'd be trying those kinds of moves now. I finally realized I wasn't invincible sometime in my late twenties.

YouTube? Can you post a link to the vid? Always fun watching the crazy things peeps do. In the greater Seattle area, we ride mt. bikes at Duthie Hill. It's a small scale Whistler, only we have to pedal uphill. :D Here's a linky: http://duthiemtb.com/

Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good C10

I had a Profile BMX from back in the day. When I decided I wanted a dedicated downhill bike I thought I should sell the Profile to help offset the cost. I put it on craigslist for $250 and within a half hour the phone was ringing off the hook. I had a bidding war on craigslist! I sold it the next day for $450 and the guy that bought it told me I could have gotten $1000 on ebay. Oh well, I was happy and I got my new downhill bike. If you've never taken your bike up the chairlift in the summer you are missing out on some big fun.

I'll throw in my thumbs-up on the bike too. "Cruiser" class I think they called it back when I raced. I was little then, too small for a bike like that. But I often find myself wishing I had one now...

gringoloco 12-18-2012 09:29 PM

Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good C10

Do it! This thing took 20 years off just by pedaling around the block. They have 24 and 26 inch cruisers, too if the 29er is too big. Fits my gargantuan self perfectly

More in common than just trucks! Love it. I raced a Panda Pro Am back in the late 70's-early 80's...the beginning. I've got two vintage SE bikes; a Quadangle and a Floval Flyer. My nephew's got my GT Pro Performer. I switched to Mountain (and then added road and track bikes) when even the 24" cruiser class seemed small.

gringoloco 12-19-2012 02:20 AM

Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good C10

Sweet. You know they're making the floval and quad again? You can get a 29er quadangle! There's also a sweet limited edition flyer with white mags

Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good C10

I know! I'm digging the larger quad, but I'm pi$$ed because the worth, and even interest in the old school ones tumbled after the SE name was bought, revived, and they started pumping out new-old ones! Oh well, it wasn't an investment, just good to be reliving, and affording what was an awesome part of my youth.
Before SE returned, there was a company selling 24" Quadangles on ebay that gained a bit of a cult following. I think they made 26" as well. Can't remember the name.
