Re: Project two tone.
Hey guys! Well, It struck me that 2 years ago Today my 292 was completed at the machine shop. The part that struck me is I still haven't started it! haha Man has 2 years gone by fast!
Due to my camera being gone I haven't gotten pictures yet, but last weekend I spent a ton of time with the truck and got the underneath of the dash primed and painted. Went with a stainless steel color. Also did a temporary prime on the back interior half of the cab as it's to cold to prime with the gun, but I was on a sanding spree. lol Cab is pretty much ready to be put on the cart right side up again so I can start working on the floor boards. Anyhow, camera should be back soon. Will post some photos and will be getting some parts in as well. Later gents. :chevy: |
Re: Project two tone.

Hi all! Hope your Christmas was awesome! Anyhow, Christmas day was great and I still got some truck time in. :metal:
Tank mounted and fuel line is bent and painted up. I know it isn't the best way to run it, but due to the way the sending unit fitting aims I had no choice; and I wasn't going to re-route the entire system again, so I got some AC delco ethanol resistant fuel line and a filter. Pump is a carter 100 gph that's capable of 15 psi so it should have no problems. Also I am running 3/8 line. Anyhow, have to get some nuts and bolts to mount the pump, but the tank is in and the lines are done. :bann: Until next time. :chevy::gmc2: |
Re: Project two tone.
TJ,
Tank looks good. There are several guys building hot rod sixes like yours on the facebook pages. Not sure if you are on any of those. I saw the same drawing as above and thought about you. TJ would like that. Did you get anything cool for the truck for Xmas? Bret |

Little early, but Happy New Year folks! Tiny update to end the evening. :mm: Had a few minutes so I got my fuel pump mounted up and the rest of the line routed. She's set permanent folks! One more thing off the list. :bann: Later guyz. :chevy::gmc2: |
Re: Project two tone.
Do you have a build up on your motor or did I miss it. I am redoing my 65 ickup. It has had a stock 292 and 5 speed in it for about 20 years and want to update the motor. What did you use for pistons and a cam?
Thanks |

Thanks. My head is the same as yours but didnt shave anything off it. What compression were the pistons? Do you know what final compression ratio is? Have you put any miles on the motor yet? Happy with it?

Re: Project two tone.
Hi guys! Well it has been awhile since the truck has been touched. Weather took a turn for the worst and work was super slow.
Spring is around the corner and the weather should be getting better soon which means....Painting time! :metal: So plans are to fire up and break in the 292 sometime within the next two months. Shooting for May. Already getting the ball rolling. Got a list of the last needed parts to get her running and it's already getting smaller. :bann: Super excited about getting that motor running. This weekend I will be doing some small work on the truck. Today I picked up a new starter, hose fittings, fan belt, thermostat, and some other misc stuff. Parts are on the way from Classic Parts and should be here sometime this coming week. Also with the help of my dad I'll be setting the cab right side up on the stand to start working on the floor this weekend so I am excited about that! Hope to have the entire cab in primer late spring early summer and then onto painting. :metal: Lot's to do folks! Until next time! :chevy: |

Hey guys! Few small updates to get the week started. :mm:
Since I am planning on getting this engine going soon I've been working on getting it finished so it can be ran. Lotta small stuff still needed to be done. Fan belt I had was too long so I got a shorter one and that takes care of That. lol See pic. Also got my new starter mounted up. Still debating on painting it black.....Thoughts????? Got some gasket maker and made some gaskets for the adapter plate and then purchased a 1/2 inch thick gasket for the carb mount. I'll show the reason for all that later this week. Had to raise the carb up a little. Anyhow....also got some brass 90's for the water heating jacket on the intake manifold so I can rout the water hoses better. Oh yeah, siliconed the thermo stat housing in place so that is on permanent. Well all this and not much was done, but it beats nothing at all. lol Should have some better updates this weekend as parts will be coming in and I'll be trying to spend most of the day working on the truck. Weather has been cold and nasty as well so time to get the wood stove fired up! Later guys! :chevy: |
