It'll be good to go. Does anyone make a billet cover converter for those 4 bolt apps?

There is really no aftermarket converter for the 4 bolt. My trans guy is doing a mod to give the converter more holding pressure. Down the road if that fails I will make a 6 bolt fit. Even with my camping trailer I am still only 7000lb total.

I wouldn't really be worried about the towing as just the lock up while towing and getting on it situations. The 4 bolt converters had big issues with the housing flexing under acceleration and allowing the clutch to slip in the converter. Actually all these converters do it and that's the main reason billet covers were made years ago. Try to find a flex plate set up from a 92-94 factory turbo IDI. I'm pretty sure they had 6 mounting provision converters. Like you said, you may not need it now, but if it could be done easily and cost effectively, it may not be a bad idea while it's apart now.

Here's a TC, and maybe a 7.3 powerstroke flex plate will work? It might be worth doing now. I know we upgraded my dad's old 91 from 4 to 6 when it had a turbo IDI in it but i can't remember for sure where I got the parts.

http://ktperformance.net/i-6685264-d...iple-disk.html

Rock auto shows a flex plate for a 94 but they don't tell if it is for the psd or IDI.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Thanks Diesel I have been doing research for a few weeks now and I have found very little. I did find that the turbo idi are very rare due to it being an option for only 2 years. It looks like the turbo IDI has 6 bolts but I have yet to find one for sale. The IDI flywheel is 15.72" dia and PSD is 15.68" so that won't work. I am thinking of taking a 4 bolt fly wheel and making it into a 6 bolt but it won't be right now. I may also look into getting a manual flywheel and machining it to accept the 6 bolt TC.

Yes I was going to but the trucks that where in the contest we never saw at the show. I think it was predetermined who was part of that.

But I did win my first trophy. "Best Lowered" :metal:

So Friday eve Joe came over and we got the trans back in and truck down in an hour. Then it took us about an hour to get all 14 Liters 3 gal into and pumped through the trans.
It works great. Put about 160mi on the truck this weekend, very happy. It runs 30*F cooler than before.
This was today. Not bad for just a break stand roll out.

Thanks John I think it would be cool to have one of those motors. I would probably just sit and watch it run for hours.

So one thing I noticed is the trans temp starts to climb when in stop and go traffic. It was quite hot outside. I decided to give my rear trans cooler (the one with the fan) more ability to get rid of heat. I cut a 2" wide 14" long slot in the bed above it. I may move it next year when I redo the bed.
I also had Joe come over and use window urethane calking to seal up the front windows due to the fact they leak when I'm driving in the rain. Wow it looks different without the visor.

I was looking at my window today and think it will need urethane too.

there is a chart somewhere online that shows trans temp related to life expectancy of the trans, that keeping it around below 200 will dramatically extend the service life. I will try to find it. is your cooler a fin and tube or plate type?

I have seen that chart too. I have both types of coolers fin at the front and the plate has my fan on it at the back.

So last weekend my 2 boys and I went on our annual camping trip. We went to a place an 1.5hrs away called Turkey point this marked our 5th year. We also got to see the most state of the art rehabilitation fish hatchery in north america. They are working to repopulate the great lakes with Atlantic salmon and several kinds of pacific salmon. They release 1.5 million fish a year. They are also the only hatchery in the world growing fresh water mussels, who's numbers are on the decline. We had a half an hour private tour.

The AD trucks looked like more stock vehicles. Did they understand how cool yours is?

Those fish the boys are holding look a bit scary.

Ya the AD trucks where stock rebuilds and are just on the road this year, all but the green one. Ya they all liked mine, nice to see they like both stock and custom. Biggest question was "how did I fit that motor in there".
The fish on the left is full grown 10 year old Atlantic salmon and the right is a med size 2 year old Pacific Chinook Salmon, it can get 3 times that size. I might stick to swimming pools now LOL.

Very cool camping trip! I never paid any attention to how many teeth those salmon have. Yikes! We went to a hatchery in Branson Mo where they raise trout to restock their lakes to attract fishermen. It's pretty cool to see the entire process.

Well the truck broke on the weekend. :whine::confused::censored:
I didn't tell you all till I figured out what happened. My boys and I where driving along pulling the trailer talking about how good everything was working (mistake). Cruising along at 55mph a bang came from the transmission and the rpm went up 400rpm. We pulled over did a few tests to see what was going on. I could move but when I gave it a bit of throttle it let go and sounded like a bag of marbles. So called for a flat bed tow truck. Monday night Joe and I pulled the trans and I took it back to the shop to get fixed again. There was lots of metal filings in the oil. They pulled it apart and just like Joe and I figured it was the torque converter that broke inside for some reason. Not my fault, not my trany shops fault. Converter is getting cut apart tomorrow to see what happened. So my trans shop is going over the whole thing again no other problems in the trans. I should have it back Friday or Monday.
While the trans is out and the truck on a hoist I decided to move my rear cooler (it was under the bed) and found a spot right up front. I'm using both coolers still. It has been really hot here most of the summer so it's great to test all the cooling systems like today it was 91*/104*F with humidity.

I'm starting to figure out how I can do that. A billet 6 lug triple disk converter would be great.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Looks like a fun trip, but that trans problem sure sucks. Lost two in my early '99 PS back when it was fairly new but out of warranty. The converters let go both times. I remember that shaken coffee can full of pea gravel all too well. Good luck with it.
