I went to one of those races in Syracuse NY at the NY State Fairgrounds back in 1985. It was on dirt oval there. Some of the most fun racing I have ever seen. They even had the jet powered "Shockwave" there as well. It rained that day, but Shockwave was used to dry the oval before it did it's "race" right in front of the grandstand straightaway. Shockwave actually did 120mph in that short straight. When it launched it blew the windows out of the building that was at the edge of the turn 3/4 area. Great show! |

Here is a couple pictures of my 57 dump truck. originally a 261 six. The engine was blown when I bought it for $75 at auction. Paid a wrecker $100 to bring it to my place. I installed a 307 V8. four speed trans two speed rear end . I use it a few times per year. The last pic is a 59 that was driven to that very spot by me. I couldn't get a clear title so I junked it. only paid $22.50 for it so I didn't care.

Re: GM Semis
The Cabover looks good, but I'll take the Chevy Long Nose in back of it, lol.
Both are most likely 8V-71's. They are a nice looking pair. Bill |
