Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
The towbar has it's second coat of Hammerite.
Today I bought new 8.8 high tensile bolts for all the fittings oft he towbar as well as a pair of even higher spec collared Allen head bolts to make into fixing pins, along with the R-Clips I was given on Monday by the local spares shop. Measured, then ground flat aspects for the drill to take to, drilled through (sacrificing some bits in the process) and then tidied them up. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pskzfypiph.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps7d3vg6qx.jpg This means the towbar is now complete, ready to fit once the truck is ready for reassembly. |

I pick up the new battery and grounding cables Friday from Napa as well as the heater core. That is the last of the under hood items left to do. I them put on the steering wheel. Next is the muffler tie in.

I took a wood shop class at City College and built this box for the back of my truck. It has been sitting in my closet for many years. I know it is more then 7. I have been thinking about breaking it out and maybe using it, either in the back of my truck or in the living room as a coffee table. It is made out of solid white oak and the Chevy Bowtie inlay is African Mahogany. It still needs a finish on it. :chevy:

Pulled most of my front end off today to drill out 2 broken P/S studs and to replace the water pump. Bolts on core support all came out easy for not being touched for 50 years. I enjoy challenges like this.

Mounted the passenger side nu crank and door loom. Turns out they're weren't the right spline type but a quick phone call has them on their way. No doubt about it, nu relics is a stand up company.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Trying to do whatever I can to keep things moving while I wait on weather and $$.
Mocked up the high hump so I can drill some holes. http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...psc77r52xr.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...psws7p6mnk.jpg wife even helped out! http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...psgwbp7isa.jpg Then I made an adapter for my gas pedal. The high hump came from an earlier year truck with a gas pedal that bolts to the floor and I wanted to use the 66 pedal that snaps on with ball mounts. A little cutting, a little drilling and there ya go. Thanks to member Durg for the idea! http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...psd716uvfs.jpg Good enough for now! http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...psu06hzk59.jpg My bed full of takeoffs and parts I've painted and prep'd. http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...psip6nxouq.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...psv1fvo9e6.jpg My sad front end with my leg sticking thru it... http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...pslt6a29lj.jpg[/QUOTE] |
