Sorry for dragging these updates out so long, but you know the story, life and it's up's and downs. Finally finished up the cruise control back around 4/21, but didn't post anything, need to check it out first. The AP500 unit works great. It's got a diagnostic mode to check everything before you drive it, which worked great. After driving it the only change to be made was location of the speed sensor by the drive shaft. I mounted the sensor about the drive shaft, with the 5MM gap. Going over some of the dips on hilly roads at 60+ mph, the shaft would move enough and would allow the magnets to hit the sensor. Mark made a new bracket and we moved it to the side, and that took care of the movement. Driving around here the gain for the cruise works good, will have to wait till later this month, when I go to Springfield Nats to see how it is on some of the long tall hills to see if it needs to be adjusted. Don't have pic of the underneath bracket. I did have to make my own bracket to hook up the cable by the carb, nothing special, just bolts to base of carb and aligned with the other cables.

lst pic showing the bracket, by carb.
2nd, 3rd and 4th pics are Mark taking the truck to a cruise inn. Last thrusday of each month Mc Donalds has a good cruise inn. I met up with him later.

So all three project got done. I also, changed the oil, changed trans filter, gasket and new fluid. Ready for the season. Thanks for following along...Jim

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

Wanted to update a little more on the cruise control and post up some pics of the 2015 Mid-America Nats in Springfield this past week-end.

Went up and back on Friday, when back up Saturday and stayed till Sunday for a total of 573 Miles.

Truck road great with the newer QA1 shocks, etc. The AP500 cruise control worked flawlessly the whole trip. Sure saved my back and legs. Going up and down the hills, when set a 67 MPH, it might drop to 65, then aaccelerate and at top of hill might hit 69, then settle back to 67. There are adjustment to change this gain, but I'm happy with it as is.

Only took a few pics at the show. On the way home, rain sometimes was really bad and would have to slow to around 45 MPH, then run 70 for awhile, then heavy rain again, but made it home safe and sound.

Jimbo won the Fatman Fab award and was in the circle of winners on Sunday. Mark and I were pleased since we built the truck. I'll post up pics and info on his thread for that.

Pic 1 Beautiful crewcab Dodge, also picked for a winner later Saturday.

Pic 2 Nice little cab over.

Pic 3 Always had a soft spot for the 62 Impala's. My first fairly new car was a 62 Impala SS that I bought in late 64.

Next five pics are of a super nice 68 pickup, with LS engine, great interior. I was surprized that it wasn't picked for something.

Here are some pics from Saturday. Forgot to say that Jimbo, Mark (my son) and I ran up together to Springfield. Mark drove John's 49 Dodge and was really happy with it and the gas mileage (21MPG).

Pic 1 Me and Mark parked together.
Pic 2 This was a 2010 Camaro with 69 front and rear sheetmetal, was done very well, but the front windshield is to much of a slope on the newer cars.
Pic 3 and 4 Very nice 55 Nomad, was also picked as a winner on Saturday.

Pic 1 and 2 Here's Jimbo's 67, has been chosen as a winner with the seal on the headlight.

Pic 3 and 4 Couple shots looking west of where we were parked.

Pic 5 Going home Sunday, wasn't bad when I took this pic, but it got worse before we got home. (Still haven't cleaned the truck, been super busy).
